I've had an idea floating around for starting to take commissions/requests without overwhelming myself with the negatives that I'm paranoid about.
Basically, the idea is holding somewhat of an "idea audition", where I gather up all the ideas people have and then just choose the one I want to do the most. These could persist over time and I could just try pick the best one every two weeks or so, adding to the list as they come. Whenever I see an idea that really hits me and inspires me, I'll give it a try with NO GUARANTEE that I'll actually finish it. Though generally worst I'd do is just finish a colored sketch.
The other problem with commissions is that the money to time ratio is insignificant when I compare it to my full-time job, so adding in that extra aspect to it is more of a turn-off than anything, so I'd probably be doing these for free on my own will to avoid unneeded anxiety. Many of you will be concerned about this, but I prefer it this way. Adding monetary compensation just fuels guilt every day I dont get it done.
I'm putting this out here to gather interest and possible ideas for making this run smoother.
A few things I'm thinking about with it:
-Making the list public, so I dont get multiple of the same requests
-Adding a voting system, so you all can help show what you all want
-Feedback with grades so you wont keep giving ideas I dont care for
