You may have noticed, the 3d artists: SFM, Blender or otherwise announcing their retirement from this site here. Though, I admit I havent been active as much as I used to, and many times have had ideas to post here anything I'd like to share with you. And, unexpectedly this that has happened yesterday with one artist has lead to many. So, this indeed falls upon me to leave too.
Started off from the rule as one of the admins of the site stated:
Initially, the belief has started off as an SFM art takedown which shook upon many SFM artists. In quality questioning, the simplicity, or availability and interactivity that made artists post as better or more. This, however... didnt spare anyone who used other programs than SFM... Blender users fall to that category accordingly too, MMD users, Koikatsu, GMOD, and anything that you could do with a little 3d scenery.
So, you've heard it folks! If you do poster or an animations with someone's models, you have to go! But, does it include all 3d Artists? Nope.. Those that are spared are 3d artists that model from scratch. Yet, this category falls to further questioning. In legitimacy and practice. You can expect the site to take down an artwork from one of 2 artists for the same character, who knows? This can happen potentially.
But one question is: If these artists permit us to use their models of whatever shape or form... why is it bound for this site to prevent it?
Nonetheless, this sort of purge comes off, not only unnecessary, but rather absurd. And, despite the rule being almost 4 years that has existed, it has come to the attention to be enforced by yesterday.
In conclusion what I've seen and read from them, the rule and their description in it, is flawed and badly put in motion. Almost as keen on picking fleas from someone's pants.
As the other artists and I, wait for the admins' decisions, I can say and hope that:
- They need review their own rule one more time. And, select a topic that is more serious than this.
- Reach a common ground to both sides: theirs and ours to a mutual agreement.
- Deal with the usual inappropriate content that is happening around
That is all...
To summarize it all: A joke rule on 3d artists that is taken serious by the team and is happening, and they are nowhere near to repeal it.
