is it just me, or is non-con/dub-con worryingly common?

Don't get me wrong, in some cases at least, I get it and people can draw whatever they want. However, it feels like it's almost to the point of being normalized on a surprisingly high amount of sites and that's...worrying. When stuff like this becomes common enough, even in fiction, people just kind of start thinking it's just a normal thing and that can get kinda dangerous.

I feel ya. I think the "I saw this in fiction enough so it must be okay" is massively overstated, but I do worry about the psychology behind people that get a little too into it, particularly certain aspects of it. And it does feel a bit oversaturated at times. Same goes for sadism in general and control-related things, which are some of my own biggest concerns. I guess it just depends on where you're looking, though. Certain ideas tend to brush up against and associate with others. So you can easily go down one rabbit hole you're interested in and end up seeing other, more disturbing things like that accumulating around it, which makes it feel so much worse for 'tainting' the thing you were originally enjoying.

All that to say, you definitely have my sympathy on this.

Many of them may be into it imagining they are the ones who are not in control, rather than those who are.

As always, keyword blocking is your friend if you start finding themes you're uncomfortable with!
