Discord Username

Unsurprisingly I wasn't the first person on discord named Pink so I got hit by the discord username change. I don't think it's as bit a deal as people are making it out to be, display names are still a thing after all. But no one cares about my opinion on this lmao

Calling your users dumb without using the word "dumb." It's not like Nintendo's codes it's just four digits.

I never understood it because like. I get the point is so that, for example, you can have "Pink#0000" to "Pink#9999" but that's still only 10,000 allowed collisions. And after that it's just capped. Whereas users could naturally come up with that and then beyond the artificial cap.

I guess, I dunno why they don't just migrate everyone's username to what it already is in the new system and allow a "grace period" where the users affected by that have like. 3 months to change their username. Or maybe that's how they're doing it I don't really know I just heard about it from this journal.

I agree that I don't think its a big deal. Your name is a common color. There were probably a hundred different people with that name. Rather than being distinct by a random set of 4 numbers now your "discriminator" is a word.

The part about this that I am mad about is that we have to go through the hassle of changing usernames at all, after the platform is already widely popular. There was already a system that works and everyone already had a name they were happy with, now literally everyone has to worry about grabbing a new name.

The system doesn't matter to me, the fact that everyone's usernames are getting disrupted is annoying.

I tried to get a username that I've used since 2008 or something, I came up with that 4 letter name a few years after Oblivion was released. I don't want to say what the name is since I don't use it for anything furry related... But it's not a thing that really anyone would think of using, but here I am, trying to get that username and "this username is already taken" ... like wtf, seriously?! Just how and why. It's not like it's a company name or even a real name because it's not... that irked me, but whatever.
