America's Best Dance Crew: What Could've Been

by
Imagine an alternate universe where America's Best Dance Crew was never cancelled and ultimately ended up as successful and "perennial" as America's Got Talent. I've got my takes on Season 8 (2013) and beyond to work on.

Concept for ABDC8 (2013) and beyond:
- Regional Finals Episodes for East, Midwest, South and West
- Twelve crews and banners instead of nine to start with (three from each region) in the Nationals Opener
- Four judges instead of three
- All twelve crews return for the finale

Imagine what America's Best Dance Crew could've been and would've been have it never got canceled due to "declining ratings" and instead decided to revert back to old ways similar to Season 5 and bring back the East vs. Midwest vs. South vs. West battles for a much fairer game.

I have mixed feelings about the superstar seasons of ABDC6 and ABDC7.  In the finales, the lack of reunions in favor of past champions was a letdown, but at least the runner-up's banner no longer falls due to the champion's megabanner being revealed immediately upon announcement.

ABDC6 (2011) was the best because not only were there crews from all six American regions among the Top 10, but IaMmE made history for not only being the first ever champions that involve both genders, but also the first ever champions NOT from the West (they're from the South).

ABDC7 (2012) was the worst because among the Top 10, SEVEN of them were from the West Coast. Even worse, two of the non-West crews were not even from the U.S. and all three of them were at risk for a PLANNED DOUBLE ELIMINATION this early within the nine remaining crews round...... and both the Canadian crew and the Mexican crew were eliminated together. Making matters worse, the last remaining non-West crew (a South Crew from Atlanta, GA), ended up in 6th place and didn't even get a tribute video before saying goodbye. It's nice for a crew from a past season like Fanny Pak (from ABDC2) to return, but since the early double elimination, they were constantly in the bottom two until they were ultimately eliminated and landed in 5th place, worse than their original 3rd place way back in Season 2. To top it all off in the blunder that was ABDC 7, Elektrolytes was that season's champions. Sure they were from Arizona, but they were another all-male b-boy crew whom were little or no different from the likes JabbaWockeeZ, Super CR3W, Quest Crew, and Poreotics. There must have some obvious bias going on within ABDC7 because there were SEVEN crews from the greater West Coast (including one from "The Pacific" and one from "The Northwest"), one crew from the South, one crew from Canada (A.K.A. "The North"), one crew from Mexico (A.K.A. "The Sur"), and no crews from the East, Midwest nor Caribbean.

Once again, imagine what if America's Best Dance Crew have never been cancelled and instead realizing Season 7 was a disaster, reverting back to their old Season 5-ish ways for Season 8 onward (this time including the Midwest), and becoming even more successful than ever before. Whenever I say Season 8, I mean the Season 8 from Spring 2013, not the soulless shell of its former self from Summer 2015 that could've been an associated VMA-themed miniseries with a separate host and judging panel directly following Season 10 instead. One last thing about America's Best Dance Crew Season 8 and beyond. From that point forward, the Caribbean would become part of the South whereas the Pacific would become part of the West.
