I think it's obvious most folks here hate child abuse. Folks here generally love children, wish they were children, that sort of thing. Even folks who draw the raunchy cub art are generally not doing anything with real kids and never would. Still, I guess it makes sense there have been folks here who are willing to cross that line.
The thing that struck me is forbidding people from self-identifying that way. I guess they want to stop folks who are celebrating it maybe? Proud of it?
I know folks on here and elsewhere who will self-identify that way, but it's usually only because they're making it clear they have it under control and they understand the ethical difficulty of the situation.
It's not uncommon for folks to be attracted to very young people. As animals, humans mature physically pretty young, and the reasons we have for not doing young folks isn't an animal thing. It's ethics, it's power dynamics, and other things too. But, some folks are just going to have a type. There are folks who like old people and folks who like young people, and if you're unlucky like that you have to spend your life keeping it in your pants and plenty of people, if they found out, they'd hate you anyways.
Now me, I'm not into kids or anybody. I'm ace and especially irl I have no drive for that sort of thing. Might say I'm different in the other way. But if folks are going to be born this way and can't help it, I think it's great when they control themselves.
All of this has been proven by research, I understand. They have less issue in some parts of the world because they let folks have illustrations and stories that let them get those urges out. In other parts of the world, they refuse to believe that. Insist that these stories and illustrations are what drive people to it, and encourage them to move on to 'the real thing'. Doesn't work that way.
I feel for folks who have compulsions they have to control. For me, worst I ever had is a speech compulsion. Still, I know what it is to have your body do stuff against your will.
The long and short of it is I'm not sure about this whole not being allowed to self-identify like that rule. Is it actually going to do anything about the folks making connections here to do bad things to real kids? Is it just going to be mean to the folks who are being honest about their desires but controlling themselves? I don't know.
Well I did say that doesn't cover me. What about you lot? Anybody upset about being unable to self identify like that here now?
