I Got Ten Toes! Last Medical Update for 2023 (12122023)

Due to various issues many of you know and the medications I have to take for them, I had to see an unusual doctor on Tuesday (12/12). Most of the time I have been labeled as “Pre-Diabetic” and on June, due to one blood test being at the level of being Diabetic or not (depending on how it is read and interpreted), I was labeled as “Diabetic” by this one doctor. Thing is, all the other doctors who see this report disagrees with its findings. But I have to take certain medications to “Lower my ACUs.” Those medications upset my stomach and give me Diarrhea – the kind that can hospitalize people from dehydration. So I took it upon myself to stop taking those meds and I’ll figure out how to lower my ACUs in some other way.  I have not told the docs of my decision. Meanwhile, what I am doing, living my normal life, my ACUs have went down on their own. I’m back to Pre-Diabetic levels, and lower than before when they first measured for it.

But there are issues with the bloodthinners giving me a rollercoaster ride with its numbers. On top of the bruising and 4 hours of bleeding from a simple scratch and so forth. And then the health insurance screwed me over by switching me without authorization in August really screwed me up. Because of this I missed my Ophthalmologist and Cardiologist appointments as they were not covered and have to reschedule them for Summer 2024. Thus came the last 2 appointments for the year: Hematology and Podiatry. The Hematology Appointment went fine. Podiatry was another matter.

The Podiatrist had to reread my records several times as he looked over my feet. Despite what reports may have claimed they say, he says that the reports are unfounded. Yes, I have large bruises on my feet from kicking the shit out things that needed to have the shit kicked out of them (like being stuck in an elevator – I’m not going to remain trapped if I can help it), and the bruises stay there for weeks if not months because the bloodthinners slows down healing. Skin issues on the shins and ankles – again, issues with the bloodthinners. He keeps going back and forth between my feet and the computer screen. What the computer screen says is not what he sees with my feet. Issues are with the bloodthinners, not diabetes. Pulse in the feet are strong, reflexes are better than normal for a man my age, toenails look healthy except for one – the one I dropped a claw hammer on and the toenail is… how can I describe it? Like loose sheets of layers of paper? But the injury has moved up from the original impact site to near the end of the nail bed, so it is healing at the slow rate the bloodthinners are putting me through. Mind you, I dropped the hammer on my toe in 2017!

Only remaining issue is my feet – they are 13.5EEE – a difficult size to find and department store shoes of 13.5W are too tight for me to wear.  I used to have a bootery that made custom shoes and boots, but they closed down in 2012. His only solution is to find another place or order from Amazon. But he says that I need the shoes to be as loose as possible as to not trap blood and injuries from the pooling into the feet. I’ve had any issues with Amazon and their unwillingness to help or even start an investigation when things go wrong on orders. So I’ll be walking about NYC to find another bootery that makes custom sized shoes to get a pair for my big feet.

He gave me some remedies to try out to help with the healing of the skin and toenail, but other than that, he found no problems that can be coming from Diabetes. All of it is from the bloodthinners slowing down my healing process. But it’s been like that for over 10 years since I started that crappy meds. At least I still have my 12 10 toes.
