Does anyone remember this TV show from the late 80s?

by
First, take a look to this image :
https://mega.nz/file/2xtn3A5I#rdTSgCixxD9Q9zMMhLaac-laf...

Let's play charades again, using AI to help identify a mysterious late '80s or early '90s series I remember but remains unknown.

No friend or even ChatGPT could solve it. I'm recreating scenes with AI to spark recognition. Here are the key points:

* The educational show had an elderly host in a castle on a mountain, with sunset colors.
* Similar to 'Cosmos,' it featured a host traveling through time with a steampunk device, exploring historical themes.
* It was a well-funded North American or European production with notable special effects.
* The host used a telescope to view the past.
* The host dressed in elegant 1920 fashion and interacted with a computer voiced by a woman.
* The intro included CGI of its era, like a pyramid with an eye.
* These AI-generated scenes are based on my memories, aiming to find the show.

Sadly the show isn't familiar to me.     I hate it when you love a show but can't remember the name and can't find it.

I hope you find it.

I don't know the show off the top of my head, but I believe someone mentioned it to me when I was talking about another show called Voyagers.  Fiction, basically a Time Bandits TV show back in the early 80s.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083500/

Might have been something very locale specific... what country did you grow up in?

'73 reporting in.

I have the reverse problem that I can describe an intro fully but have no idea what anime that was.

I know the intro was a police chase of a criminal in a yellow volkswagen beetle who crashed through a road-limit bar. But instead of dropping to his death down the cliff a time-portal appears and he get teleported thousand years into the future.

There he helps the "modern" police solving cases cause he is the only one "knowing" how the criminals think since he is one himself. Which makes it pretty funny.

The descriptions looks right. Will look into it. Sadly I only knew the intro, not a single episode however.

It may be worth trying looking on TV Tropes for any elements of the show that you remember.

I first thought Knightmare. Somewhat educational, older host that uses weird things. But it falls apart with 1920s fashion, and a computer female.

there's some thing in common with knightmare heheh,  but it doesn't had cartoons, also i remember the host was older

I was watching TV in the 80's but we only has an antenna so we had 2 channels and all I watched was cartoons on saturday morning (before the government screwed that up later on for kids every where with their educational mandates) and some shows my folks watched like "MASH" and "Sandford and son". I had to go a couple miles away to a friend's house to see any other channels (he lived higher up so got 3 channels). The only guess I can think of is that sounds like some sort of odd Doctor Who references (I saw like 3 eps of the Tom Baker version). I honestly can't recall any one in a castle though.

heh, it wasn't much different like that here in Peru,  I remember we had only 4 channels i believe when i was a young kid.  but this series was a little later,  mabe even like 89, 90 or 91 thanks man ^^

Yeah, it's too bad the US gummint decided to screw up every child's fun weekends with even more "education".  I remember it actually started in the 1960s or '70s with "Schoolhouse Rock".  As entertaining as those shorts were, they were still school on Saturdays instead of entertainment on Saturdays.

The only thing vaguely similar I know of would be Dr. Who, but I know that's not it, that show wasn't very educational and didn't have cgi

Hmmm, sound like Voyagers, it was a 1982 show dealing with an old man living in a castle who with his side kick travel through time to correct mistakes, it has very early, almost Tron like CGI.  Though I think your memory might be mixing 2 shows, cause the 1920 old man with the telescope reminds me of The Adventures of Mark Twain. Which is about Twain visiting historic location on his steamboat, using his hand-held telescope to show a snip bit of the location that he was traveling. Twain show has the Eye in the pyramid as part of its intro.

I think that this is the most likely answer, except...
Adventures of Mark Twain is a movie, not a tv series and was done in claymation, not live action.
These two do check pretty much everything on your list, though.

voyagers didn't had and old man on a castle O_o,  it was two guys, and adult and a kid with some kind of compass that they used to travel, it only have 13 episodes because tragically the actor who played the adult part ( Jon-Erik Hexum ) died while filmed because played with a blank gun (he tough those guns were harmless, and fired one against his head killing himself)
one story like that can't be forgiven, i actually remember it because watched the show as a kid and was a popular scandal suddenly due the events.. too sad story really

But thanks for trying ^^

When you say educational, do you mean like it’s a preschool show?

Also, with the special effects, does it include puppetry?
bbmbbf

not preschool,  but mayber had puppets, that's what i'm trying to remember,  i think maybe there was one, it's too fuzzy on my mind that part

I honestly have no idea, really. If I had watched them when I was younger, I'd know. I was about 4 when 1989 was the year. And even if it weren't Cosmos, it would take billions and billions of hours just to figure out! And given the time, I don't even think Encarta can help us out! I might find it through Google or something.

I suspect a puppet, but i can't tell,  was mostly actors, reacting scenes of history I beleive, the computer was like a narrator of the events ..  I don't remember if it had b/w segments

No clue.
Closest 'educational' show I can think of to my EARLIEST of childhoods was 'Mr. Wizard's World'.
And I'm preeeeetty sure that's not this, since it was more modern for it's time without any stage themes involved.

I will attempt to find an answer, as this sounds familiar as well. Especially the bit about viewing the past with a telescope.  That sounds familiar and this is irking me. Its not Otherworld as I was thinking it was that, but Otherworld isnt educational (opening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8idvQeM0kA ) Nor is it a puppet show like Eureeka's Castle.

I'm going to keep searching since this is bugging me too, though if I don't find it, someone else might so either way hopefully an answer is found.

This opening is so similar that it made me doubt my own memories. Here you can clearly see the pyramid with an eye, and it also uses primitive computer graphics. However, there are also things that don't match. The date is the most important. According to my research, the second stage of "The Other Limits" was made in 1995, which is a bit late to coincide with the series I'm looking for (which I place between the late 80s and early 90s). Additionally, the images in my memory have a different coloration/style in general. After reviewing the content of the series, it doesn't match in almost anything. Thank you very much anyway. I was excited for a moment to have to doubt my own memories.
