Maybe, you could take a break?

Are you burnt out?
Dreamyart

i haven't been drawing already for like a month and maybe a lil more :v
and well, i think it's kind of a burn out but at the same time is not really like the ones I've experienced in the past
i usually struggle to draw when I'm in a burnout, but now i just don't wanna draw but i feel guilty not to

I think its normal.

Interests and passions tend to shift.

Or maybe, do you think your skill was stagnating? Like not really getting somewhere?

It often happens to me too. Sometimes I don't draw for 3 months or more, then the motivation comes back and I draw a lot. I don't know why it happens.

Feel free to message me, I’ve been feeling the same thing for over a year now ;_; been struggling with my art style and motivation to draw in general.

I tend to find that changing format or medium can help, finding something that appeals even if it's not what you normally do and you don't post it.
You do digital 2D so maybe try 3D or animation or traditional media, something to get you out of the rut.

i second this. draw something different. draw in a different way. change up your subject matter. draw a space ship, or a nice park. draw because you want to, not because you have to, and draw what you want to draw, even if it's only for you.

i often take a long time to work on my com queue (something i'm ashamed of), but i find one of the things that helps me is just NOT working on my coms, and instead drawing the thing that's in my head that i actually want to do. it's ok if you let personal projects go unfinished. it's ok if you spend the day scribbling silly art crimes instead of being serious. it's ok if you play some games instead of doing art.

I know how it feels. I'm not bad at drawing myself, but a few years ago I lost all motivation for it too. It got frustrating. It got annoying. And shortly after to a point where is was visible in the art. The last pic I uploaded on SoFurry was maybe 14 years ago.

Of course I still did a few pics here and there. As a birthday gift or so.
But unfortunately the passion from back than never came back. 🤔

Good luck. I wish you all the best!

If you’re still on discord, I would love to see you in my friends list. Maybe we could discuss some spicy ideas that might spark some interest? Or if not that, it is always nice to have people to talk to.

is there something preventing you from having the time or a space for drawing?
when i cant draw, i usually try to do other stuff that is stimulating for the mind. talking to friends, games, going somewhere, reading. stuff that gives me new expeiences and can help me find inspiration, and it takes as long as it takes

work is definitely taking up lots of my free time and forces lately that's for sure
but i guess i just feel like i don't wanna draw anymore, and at the same time i have projects i have to finish but can't find the motivation to do so

what you have said is also true and i've been doing that lately, i'm starting to think maybe is just like a "phase" and it will just take some time before i recover

Try to think about why exactly you feel guilty for not drawing?
Why did you start in the first place? Do you have a goal long term with your drawing?
Also If you don't have a goal or don't need to draw (like for a commission or something) it's perfectly ok to take some time off.
Another thing is maybe your tank of ideas is a bit empty and you just need to engage with content that makes you want to draw.

i have some projects i need to finish including an art trade and some gifts and thinking at those make me a lil guilty tbh
i don't really have any goals, which doesn't really help.. apart from maybe wanna learn to animate only problem is that animations takes so much time and effort it quickly drains all my mood and energy xwx

at the end of the day.. i just feel like i haven't been productive i guess, i haven't done much apart from working and "excisting" and finding something to do is hard especially if you don't have anyone to give you a lil push and motivate to do someting.. (at least in my case >~<)

Maybe you just need a break? Most people commenting before has pretty sound advice too, I think. I'm sure you'll figure it out. Good luck!

Just take a break. There's no sense in forcing it when you aren't feeling it

Just take a break, a break doesn't need to have a time limit, and taking a break doesn't mean you aren't doing anything at all. Try to find something fun to occupy yourself with that isn't art that you enjoy and don't feel pressured to make anything when you're not in the mood. Eventually you'll be in the mood again. I've seen many artists suffer from burnout, but the majority of them come back after a while doing other things feeling refreshed, even if some of them took a year or more.

Maybe time to try something new and different? Mixing things up a bit can help sometimes, maybe try working in a different medium or try a different style out. Maybe watch some other artists for inspiration. Taking a break isn't always bad either. (I mean a real break, not a "break" where you're constantly feeling terrible for not being productive.) Whatever you do, just don't stress too much over it. Whatever you do it should make ya feel good. ^.^

Don't feel guilty. Get back to it when you feel like it.

Perhaps change things up, I find when a method becomes tedious switching to a new one helps.

it happens with me sometimes.  i push up to finish what i owe, but for personal art, it sometimes depends on mood, it starts just as a silly sketch, then in the meantime, it sparks and i get myself to finish it.

i'd say to take a break, but to look for something else on your routine, that might spark an idea for a picture.

Sometimes I've found what gets me outta this is:

~ Drawing a cartoon character I really like from my childhood.

~ Doodling. Makin myself draw simpler because sometimes ya can feel backed into a corner as your art gets more intricate.

~ Coloring with crayons in a coloring book.

~ Watch the cartoons that made you want to draw when you were younger. Go back to yer roots.

~ Drawing with friends in the same room together. That creative buzz and good vibes is like nothin else in the world! Put on a bad movie, order take out, and have a fun night together!

~ A combination of any or all of the above.

Whatever happens, just know that yer art inspires others, and we're so grateful to you for sharin it with all of us. No matter what, I hope you have a fantastical day! ^^

Sometimes starting can be the hardest part. Often, even. If you're struggling to find inspiration, do some structured practice or studies. Inspiration often comes after you've already started working. Whenever I'm feeling like this, I watch this video about the mythology of the creative person who does it because they're just bursting with ideas and have to get them out, and how most professionals are not like that at all. They suffer from writer's block like the rest of us and what makes them pro is that they start working anyways. :)

Yeah sounds like you need a good break. Don't force yourself if your not enjoying it. This is supposed to be fun after all and all it will do is make you resent it.
Burn out is just something that happens. Had it with a hobby I was very passionate about for over a decade then one day I just lost all interest and haven't regained it in over 5 years.
You know how much I love your stuff but you are the main priority, so do what is best for you. <3

It's always best to take a break. It's hard for me to relate with how artists function vs a person who makes scarfs and whatnot, but taking a break is always optional. We can all get paid from our works, but taking a break in between the battles is always a priority.

Maybe change the pace or theme. If diapers don't appeal, you can always draw something else to scratch that itch. That's why I do inflation stuff and muscle stuff, and 3D stuff, and comics so i don't burn out. Lately I been thinking about doing just straight-up sexual arts, since so many booties need penetrating. :3c
Maybe play some games or watch some cartoons and anime and shows you been putting off, to get some inspiration.
