help with a weird thing anyone?

hello. a very weird combination of circumstances occured for me right before writing this journal. the website deviantart.com banned me for submitting "inapropriate content"; when I have not submitted anything to the site in almost a year. those two things should not both be true at once. I am emailing them about it and trying to get it overturned; or at least find out about exactly what submission they were talking about. this is so bizarre I wanted to publicize it on other accounts. anyone got any idea what's going on?

Want my opinion.....? Don't try & return onto DA or get a new account. DA has turned into such a dumpster fire full of immature kids (that shouldn't even be online to begin with), that there's so many problems going on on there. If I didn't have to keep in touch with someone that's on there (and on there only), I would have GLADLY left a LONG time ago. I wish I could leave. But I don't really have a choice.

My advice to you is stay away from that site, if I were you. DA isn't safe for anyone, anymore.

wow; strong opinions; I at least need to be able to tell a couple friends on that site where i can be contacted elsewhere; but i am going to try to get back on; did they change some policy recently; because i was banned about 6 hours ago; yet my last submission was a little under a year ago;

They might have. But I wouldn't know, because I don't post anything controversial. Like my potty pics or anything like that. I know other Deviants that got banned because of their content. Like Tugscarebear, Kilo60, etc. They all got banned, because of their artwork. And those are users that have been around MORE than 10 years. Same thing in regards of how long their artwork have been up

I guess DA doesn't allow ANY sort of nudity or controversial topics. And they don't care how long you've been a part of the platform. The higher ups at DA are just so soft now, it's ridiculous.

that is very strange; i am at least trying to be able to notify all my friends on that site of other accounts and salvage a few things i had in the notes on that page; I sent deviantart an email asking which specific deviation i was banned for;

Yeah it's pretty fucked up. DA is NOT like it used to be 10 years ago. I would know, I was there 10 years ago. Everyone was more mature, polite & respectful. The users, the moderators, everyone. These days, it's turned into a cesspool full of immature underage kids, that make sloppy artwork with MS Paint (like even the lines aren't even straight). Or post "What If This Character" memes. There's no REAL artwork there anymore.

But anyways, that's just my 2 cents. It's not worth being part of it anymore. I wish I could leave, but again I have a couple people that I gotta keep in contact on there. Since they aren't part of any other social media, nor are they interested in joining. But, do what you wanna do. It's up to you

If you can & want to do that, then go ahead. I'm not stopping you. I just wanted to express my opinion, that's all.

And no, it's not unheard of. I wish it was. In fact, I wish some sites NEVER took a turn for the worst.

Yeah I don't wanna get into that. And well......In my case, they got back to me the same day. Didn't have to wait long at all. But I guess it depends

Yeah your case might be different. The complaints/emails I sent were about harassment or art theft. Yours is about recovering your account. So that might be a bigger deal. I don't know, I've never dealt with something like this before

Well like I said that's why I don't upload anything that would be concerning or offensive to DA's eyes. That's why I save drawings like that for here on IB. Or maybe on FA

That doesn't matter. You could have posted something over 10 years ago, and then NOW they could ban your account because it violates DA's new rules they put in place.

That's what happened to Tugscarebear, Kilo60, etc. They were artists part of DA for over 10 years. Uploaded their artwork, 10 or more years ago. But then NOW all of the sudden, they get their accounts banned. Because DA decides to change their rules & policies. That's the point I'm trying to make. DA these days is being controlled by cowards.

submissions that violate policies that didn't exist when they were submitted deserve less harsh treatment then violations of present policies

Yeah, I obviously agree. But, that's not what DA is thinking. They won't care. They don't care how long you've been a part of DA. If you have something that violates their policies or rules, then yeah they'll ban you. 10 days, 10 months, or 10 years. Doesn't matter. When it SHOULD matter, because yeah some people's artwork has been around WAY before these new admins took over

It's happened before man. Again, many famous/well known artists I loved (that have been around for more than 10 years), got their accounts on DA banned. Because of the content they posted throughout the years. It's bullshit.
