I'm very interested in this project, especially since (as you said), you can still use Flash in Windows 10.

It's been ages since I've done anything in Flash, so I don't know that I'd be terribly helpful in that regard, but should you consider any future projects in something like Unity, RPG Maker, or even something using C# or Javascript, I would certainly be interested in offering my skills if they would be useful.

I'll be keeping tabs on this one regardless, as I've always enjoyed your content.

I have gotten RPGArchitect which is like RPGMaker but still being developed and has, for example, 3D or 2.5D capabilities. Here's a look at it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2158670/RPG_Architect/ I thought it would help me make a Pokemon-like game, but uh the codeless scripting system is actually a little intimidating. I'm still waiting for the tutorials on their channel to cover it more in-depth sometime in the future.

It's great when you ask if the engine can do something and the dev is like, well, you can use scripting to do that with no further info lol.

There's also this which just went on sale today: https://yanako-rpgs.itch.io/yanas-montamer-maker

My current project of Ponies and Jellykin is actually made with Godot 4.  Initial prototype here: https://watercolorheart.itch.io/jellykin and I have two programmers I'm hiring to help, one is doing the virtual pet stuff you see there and the other is helping me with a tile-placing alchemy minigame to make potions where the ingredients combine and we're trying to make the actual gameplay aspect of it fun. I can give more details in a DM if you want, this comment is already getting kind of long.

RPGArchitect is one that slipped under my radar, but it does sound interesting. I'll be adding that one to my wishlist. The price is right, even if I only tinker with it and don't actually try to develop a full fledged game with it. I can understand where you're coming from with the codeless script concept too, I feel those can be very hit or miss, and you're usually much more limited in what you can do versus coding something yourself, especially if it's your own proprietary engine. Sucks that there aren't many tutorials out there yet, so I feel like I'll be waiting on purchasing this one until those come out.

Hah, yeah, that would put me off too if I'm told you can do something but not shown how any of it even works. Pretty cool there, hah.

Yanako-RPGs looks interesting. Looks tailor made for a Pokémon like game, which I think would be very fun to play with too. Thanks for that tip, I hadn't heard of that one before either.

Nice! I've tried Godot 4 in the past, but just didn't stick with it (got busy by other interests), but I really liked what I saw while I was playing with it--even more than I like Unity, tbh, so I should give that one a try again. I'll definitely be checking out your project, it sounds like an interesting project, and I like when developers/designers go out of their way to add content like minigames to augment the gameplay like that. I'll probably hit you up for more details on it, but I should probably download and try it out first so I can get a better idea too. Don't want to waste any of your time at all, as I am sure you're very busy too.

I haven't really used Flash other than using a decompiler to look at Flash assets and coding on occasion. I've been dabbling with Godot lately, that's similar to Unity, and i know you can make some Flash games now with Unity.

But I have a friend that made Flash animations and still makes some to this day. Not sure if he is used to more interactive stuff, but I suppose I could ask him.

Feels like everyone making new stuff has moved to Godot, haha. Man, I wish Godot soft-body physics actually worked well. I was trying to implement them in a separate project to squish a slime and it just clipped through the floor. Note: it did collide, but went through the plane anyway even when I made it thicker.

I can't say why it'd do that, but maybe someone on the Godot Discord server would know. After what the former EA CEO, recently the Unity CEO, tried to pull with Unity on the users/devs of Unity, trust in Unity has been broken, so a lot of people have jumped ship from Unity. Godot being a free game engine similar in build and function to Unity is why some people have picked it up.

However I bought a few lessons in Godot from Zenva, an online class, to help in my lack of understanding in Godot. Not sure if something like that would help you, but I'd check with the Discord first.

Yeah, I could make a thread on the Discord. It was actually me and like 3 other devs messing with soft-body in a new project in the voice chat and nobody really made it work "well" basically, the implementation with collision is just not there.

I found Zenva's selection for Godot 4 a little lacking when I looked at it, but I am looking specifically for like RPG tutorials.
