Migration - movie review

Just finished watching Illumination's Migration animated movie and it was... a movie. It only took me like a minute or two of watching it to say "This is The Croods but with ducks!" It follows the typical plot, family with 2 kids (one of each sex) and a wacky older relative are living a comfortable life till outsides show up and tempt them with tales of other places and adventure, making the family want to go but the father forbids it because they have safety and security where they are and the outside world is full of danger and the unknown. Then things happen and the father has a change of heart in order to try and please his family, basking in their joy for a moment before his original fears are instantly proven correct. Then you have wacky/scarey misadventures and strange characters for a bit, a villain and some near death moment, some one who needs helps, some new friends and then the end where every one is happy and thankful they made the trip as a family.

If you liked Illumination's older stuff (pre-Disney) this will probably be up your alley and shockingly I didn't really notice any woke stuff forced in. I even managed to tolerate Awkwafina's voice acting.

If your interested in watching the film, here's a code to download it (USA residents only, not my rules). Please leave a comment below if you use the code so other's know its gone.

Grabbed the code, was actually wanting to see this last night, but couldn't reasonably justify spending nearly 40 bucks on a movie thats been out since christmas to see in thearters, and only streaming service  we could find to get it on was Apple so we were less than enthused.

OK, so having watched the movie with my hun, here are my thoughts. the beginning almost, like very nearly had us want to walk away because of the overbearing fear inducing father, and the... annoying little sister duck whos being an absolute butt to her older brother. That said once things start moving away, it gets better faster starting with their first stop, and once we get introduced with the recurring villain it only gets more fun, though at times it feels like things are a bit much. like the escape by some other characters in the third act which kinda makes you wanna ask the question of why didn't they do that from the beginning. Overall though pretty enjoyable movie. 3/4 out of 5 stars depending on your tastes.
