RIP Akira Toriyama

First the guy who created Yu-Gi-Oh!, and now this. Akira Toriyama was the creator of the Dragonball franchise, and one of the early ambassadors of anime for Americans. His adaptation of Dragon Quest (aka Dragon Warrior) came to America in 1991, and was one of those early Japanese cartoons that was buried in the 6AM time slot. It didn't last long, either, so if you didn't see an episode that Saturday morning, you probably were never going to see it again.

Pour one out for Toriyama, the myth, the legend, the dominant force on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block.

Not Just Yu-Gi-Oh and DragonBall's creators, but also Berserks a couple years ago too.

WHY MUST ALL THE LEGENDS DIE????

dragon ball was part of my adolescence 🙂, I followed the saga of Goku as a child, the saga of the Saiyans, the Cell tournament, majin boo, and dragon ball gt, and the ps1 ps2 games AND THE FANTASTIC DRAGON BALL FIGHTER Z 🤩🤩, and laughing a lot at the manga dr slump 🤣🤣, and lots of time travel in the fantastic RPG chrono trigger, the world was sadder with the loss of Akira toryama 😞😞😞😢😢, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AKIRA SAN 😢😢, may your star shine in the sky and shine a light on a new generation of artists.

Oof, that sucks. Guy died at 68. Young for Japanese man but still. He'll be missed. Love his art style. I enjoyed Dragon Ball Z and currently enjoying the Dragon Quest franchise. Cheers!
