R.I.P. Akira Toriyama and Yoshitaka Murayama

As a big fan of the Suikoden franchise, I'm still recovering from the loss of Yoshitaka Murayama. Not only that man created a great jrpg series but it's one of the first times we have a jrpg with kemono characters that are main characters, part of the plot, and all. They are not just "mascots" or something like that. In fact, for the psx era I think was the first time, and how many other franchises aside from Breath of Fire or Shining Force you can say that back then?

Yeah, that really only happened with 2 since in 1 it's not like Kuromimi was an important character in 1 but he was there. And beginning with 2 the kemonos started to get more important in the franchise. It sucked that he left during the development of 3 - and oh boy it shows - but Suikoden started with him! And he was now starting another franchise that might have even more kemono since the kemono we see in the very first Eiyuden Chronicles? The number and their designs? HOLY SHIT!

So I got very excited when I heard about that game! And then I heard about his sudden death...even if Eiyuden Chronicles is a great game and a big success I hope it will be...that's it. Even if they make it a series too who will take the charge now that Yoshitaka died? I guess we will have to see but this is such a big letdown. At the very least he forced Konami to announce the remasters of Suikoden 1 and 2 which while it's a good thing it was only done to compete with Yoshitaka's game which shows how shitty that company had become.

And while I'm still recovering from that loss...Akira Toriyama died too.

I'm not going to offend the intelligence of you who are reading this journal. You know who Akira Toriyama was and what he did. And the massive loss to the world of anime/manga and also to the fans of kemono that his death is. His stuff was among the first to have kemono characters in important roles that became a big hit in the history of anime and manga (like Karin and Piccolo from Dragon Ball). That goes for even recent times! Imagine if he died before Super...we wouldn't have the hakaishin!! And that's not counting his contribution to the world of games as well with stuff like Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon...

This year still is starting up and already sucks!

R.I.P. you two amazing legends. You will forever be missed but what you created will stay with fans like me forever.

I was shocked by the sudden announcement of Yoshitaka. As a long time fan of Suikoden, I backed Eiyuden right away and have been enjoying the development updates. Then suddenly that update came out of nowhere...

Yeah, that was the worst update ever. Now I hope the game is as amazing as it seems it will be and then...we see what happens with that IP. Sigh...

Man, Dragonball will always have a place in my heart. That guy did so much and help generations imagine fantasy in another way. He will be missed.
