I saw the eclipse at a location northeast of Clinton, Arkansas today.
The center of the path of totality was directly over my house. However, I went to a place where you could look over several miles of basin from up on a ridgetop. It was only a half mile from the center of the path.
I got video looking over the basin as totality arrived, and video of the sunlight returning.
I also got video of the actual eclipse up in the sky.
Along with those videos I took a video of the landscape in the darkness.
I also took several quick glances at it without the eclipse shades. The sight of it was absolutely awesome, which viewed through the shades does it no justice.
The thin ring with a few spikes was so white it puts the whiteness of freshly fallen snow to shame. And there was a bright white haze around it all. The sky and moon were deep grayish blue.
It was a little different from one I glanced at in 1970. The sky and moon in that one was a deep, velvet, cobalt blue. And there was no haze.
