This amazing picture was done by the wonderful Denma (aka Backlash91) this was done months ago. However I wanted to post it once I finished the story based on it. And i am finally done. I hope you all enjoy, and thank you Denma

    It was a normal night for Luna, she watched as the citizens of Canterlot tucked away their little ones for bed. She felt a sting in her heart, for she longed to have a child of her own. Sadly there was a reason no stallion was swooning over the beautiful blue mare of the night. She was once Nightmare Moon, however she and the nightmare were of one body and yet separate minds. Luna and Nightmare Moon came to a conclusion to work together and not destroy everything and their sister Celestia. Evil was turned into good. However everypony still feared her, many respect her now and even love her. Its just that they think evil still dwells in Nightmare Moon's heart.

    Moony, as she is called by many now, actually was nice and drove away evil nightmares that everypony had. While luna kept watch for a physical threat, nightmare moon went to dreams to confront the mental and spiritual evils. Shes even stopped many ponies from committing crimes or even causing harm to themselves. It made both Luna and Moony happy knowing they are doing so much good in the land. Even making a peace tready with many races Celestia could not do before. Now, both feel the longing to be a mother. "Luna, why do we hurt ourselves by watching the citizens tuck away the young ones?" Luna sighed as she spoke with her second self "It does hurt, but it brings me some comfort. Does it not you?" Moony just chuckled "I have a solution to our issue dear Luna." Luna's ears perk up "Oh?!"

    The black mare within laughed "There are so many orphans dear, why don't we adopt a child?" Luna's eyes widen and she face hoofed herself "Why did I Not think of that?! Moony your a genius!" Both started making plans that night to go to the Orphanage outside of Canterlot to see about adopting a foal. Luna was so giddy and happy she could hardly wait. Moony had to convince her several times to not to in the middle of the night and wake everyone there up. So Luna waited till her sister woke up and did her routine of getting some coffee and eating a beagle before raising the sun. As soon as the sun was up high enough, Luna was out of the castle and headed to the Orphanage.

    Luna landed in the court yard of the Orphanage seeing all the little ones run and play in the morning light. She smiles seeing the different ages of foals play together. She was greeted by the children's caretaker, named Mrs. PeachFuzz, who was a kind ,light peach colored, mare who did what she could for any young one who is alone. "Your majesty?! What brings you here to our humble Home for lost children?" Luna nods to the bowing Mare "I have come to see of I could adopt a foal. You see, my um other self and I are lonely and no Stallion wishes to love us cause of our past. We truly wish to have a young one of our own to raise and love." Mrs. PeachFuzz gasps "Of course! it would be an honor to help you and Nightmare Moon find a child. I would only dream of the spoiling they would go through." Both mares laugh heartedly as both walk into the large building. Inside were many rooms and each story actually had a few rooms that were classes taught by volunteers who came to teach the young ones and the older orphans life skills so they could live out on their own and hold steady jobs. Some have even grown to become Royal Guards for Celestia or Luna.

    Mrs. PeachFuzz looks at the dark blue mare walking beside her "Is there a particular age group you want?" Luna nods "Moony and I feel that a foal at least 5 years old to 10 is a good range for us. Maybe younger, Moony and I never had a child before so we are inexperienced. We just want to choose the child who would need us most." Mrs. PeachFuzz nods with a smile "Of course My princess." She leads Luna to a area in the back fo the school where many fo the younger foals were. All the foals flock to Luna in joy swarming the amazing princess of the night. Luna smiled and talked to each child in turn, however Moony felt a strange magic in the air and she used their magic to search for the source. She soon is shocked to see a young foal no older then 4 years old outside laying in the dirt alone. She felt the magic coming form the foal. She went back to Luna "Luna! Outside is a white foal with dark turquoise colorings. She is all alone out there, lets go see her". Luna peeked over the other foals and spots the very foal Moony was speaking about "Alright Moony. Excuse me Mrs. PeachFuzz, I see a foal I think moony wants to speak too." Mrs PeachFuzz tilts her head then sees the foal she is talking about and her eyes widen "Oh! You wont want her, shes so young and new here. Shes only been here for a year at the least." Luna nods "I will be the judge of that my dear."

    Luna walked outside to where the foal layed on a bed of ferns. From what she could see, the foal had a few scars on her legs from what could only be made by claws. She even saw a fading bruise form being kicked by another pony. She felt Moony snarl "Who would harm a foal?!". "Now Moony, don't be so rash now. Lets just talk to the little one". Luna walks over to the white foal "Hello small one". The foal jumped and backed away in fright. She cowered "Please Don't Hit Me!" Luna gasps softly "No, no little one. I wont hurt you". She lowers herself onto the ground and made a soft nicker to the foal.

    The foal whined and then moved closer "Y.you wont hurt me?" Luna shook her head and let the foal move closer and settle beside her. "What is your name little one?" she asked the foal softly. The little one speaks gently "My name is Nyota". Moony smiles "Her name means Star, its beautiful". For hours Luna talked with Nyota. Learning about her likes and she even asked her where she came from. Nyota talked about how she was actually a lost princess of the Dragon kingdom. However right now she could not take the throne cause of the dragon who took her fathers throne. He was the one who put the scars on her, the reason she was not dead was cause of Luna's guards, they saw her pinned by the dragon who murdered her dragon father and Alicorn mother. They saved her life, however all they could do was give her to the orphanage. Its been a year now since it happened. Moony came to a realization "No WONDER the dragon kingdom has broken form our alliances! The new king is the cause!" Luna nods speaking to Moony via mind "It would seem so, and it would also seem that this is the true heir to the throne."

    Nyota started to tear up thinking of her parents, Luna pulled her close and groomed her mane lovingly, then used her magic to braid the mane together. Nyota sniffled and rubs her eyes, she opens her locket and Luna sees the pictures inside. One one side was a picture of her with her parents. Then on the other side was of just her mother and father smileing happily. Luna and Moony thought about this for a while and came to an agreement. Luna stands up and guides Nyota inside with her. Mrs. PeachFuzz looks up "Princess?" Luna smiles "I would like to adopt this little one". She used her wing to gently push Nyota forward. Nyota looks up at Mrs. PeachFuzz "Do..Do I have a home now miss?" The light colored mare smiled with a tear in her eye "yes, it would seem so sweetie". Nyota smiles happily, soon the paper work was done and Luna was now Nyota's new mother.

    After Nyota said her goodbyes to Mrs. PeachFuzz and some of the orphans who were kind to her. She then sat on Luna's back and held on. She only been up in the sky once, when her dragon father took her with him to a cave to pick a gem that would be put on her little tiara. She tears up at the memory and hides her face behind her little dragon wing. Luna looks at her and smiles "Its okay, I will take good care of you". Luna takes off gently and was flying through the air. Nyota looked around at the beauty around them, she waved at a few sky patrol and they waved back to them. Soon they land on Luna's balcony int he castle, Luna smiles at Nyota as she got off. "Welcome to Canterlot my little star". Nyota explored the room curiously.

    Luna and Moony chuckle at the small ones curiosity, how she gazes at the art upon the wall and looked at frammed pictures with interest. Luna smiles "Moony, I think this is the best choice we have made in our lives". Moony softly laughed "Yes, this tis the best decision ever. We now have our own little one. And her name means "Star" as well, its got to be fate that we were meant to find her and take care of her." Luna nods as Nyota then hops onto Luna's bed and jumps up and down on it. She laughs in joy as she bounced more. Both princess's of the night laugh at their new foals excitement.

    Soon Luna takes her new child to an area of the palace where she could get her cleaned up for her first medical check up. Luna had a warm bath run, as she bathed the hybrid things got wet. The little foal squeals and splashes in joy as she was taken care of by her new mother. Soon she was dried off and taken to the hospital where Luna trusts only one doctor/nurse to care for her little one. They wait in a room with Nyota on the bed, soon a blue unicorn with a light blue mane and tail walks in. he smiles "Princess Luna! A pleasure to see you!' Luna smiles "The same to you Nurse Cobalt. This is my new daughter, her name is Nyota." Nyota was hiding herself under her wings, this made the nurse laugh "Oh, its okay sweetheart. I don't bite, common let me see your face."

    Nyota moves her wings to show her face to Cobalt, he smiles at her "There we go, now I can give you your check up." He does the routine check up, taking her temperature, checking her eyes and ears. He frowns slightly seeing her fading bruises and some of her cuts "Hmm seems someone does not like hybrids. Poor thing has been beaten." He then grabs a lollipop and gives it to her "Here you go, it has medicine to help with any internal pain and damage." Nyota uses her dragon wing thumb to hold the lollipop as she suckles on it and licks it. Cobalt pulls Luna aside "She is perfectly healthy Princess, despite all the abuse she has taken she is healing VERY well. I just suggest you keep her safe, many other ponies might do her harm if she goes to school." Luna nods "Thank you Nurse Cobalt, I will assign her a personal guard for whens he goes into school in 2 weeks."

As the days roll by, Luna spoils her little one rotten. At night Moony takes over to spend time with their small star. Moony even got a tiara recreated for her with the exact same gem type that was in Nyota's memories. Soon the palace servants grew to love the foal and kept an eye on her as she explored the castle. Celestia was too busy to even take notice of her new niece. Soon it was time for Nyota to enroll in school. She started out a little rough cause the other foals were weirded out by her, however a few came to befriend her and one said she had a cousin in ponyville whose sister's friend had a full grown dragon as a assistant. Nyota hoped to one day to go to Ponyville, she also hoped to see the mysterious "Sever Point", a male alicorn who wondered the land. Her momma Luna got her a toutor to help her with controlling her magic, his name was Shadowed Ember. He was a kind hearted and very patient with her. Soon it had been 5 months since Luna adopted her. She had some good friends and her momma was planning a trip to Ponyville so she could meet the Princess of friendship.

    It was only a week from her and her momma's special trip when things became a living nightmare for Nyota. A group of colts had started bullying her badly, even with Shadowed Ember and her guard chasing them off. They had always found her alone and would tease and mock her, calling her a freak and a waste of life. Then not half way into the week they had her cornered and started beating on her. One threw her tiara away and one ripped her necklace off. Nyota begged them to stop, but they then started kicking and biting her hard drawing blood. It was then that something within her was awakened. Her eyes went form pony to dragon. Her fangs grew out and then fire engulfed her body as she roared out viciously. There standing at their height, no longer the small runt they were teasing, was a full bodied dragon. She snarls "I shall not let you harm my weaker pony side anymore!" She attacked when they tried to attack her again. She broke ones wing while she slammed the others into the wall.

    Celestia's guards showed up as Nyota growls at the leader of the group still trying to get at her. She roars out "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" She rams into him and sent him tot he ground. She then backs up and pants before turning back to her small pony form. the guards took the colts away and then took Nyota to Celestia herself. They reported what they saw and even said Nyota attacked in self defense. However Nyota said she didst remember changing into a dragon at all. She had her necklace mended by a guard who put it back on her. Celestia looks at the foal and then in her mind came to the decision that she was to be put to death to protect her people form this unknown threat.

    Celestia took Nyota to a secluded part fo the palace where no one was. She had 2 guards who did not wish to do this, but woudl by Celestia's order. Once they were along, Celestia looks at Nyota "I am sorry young one, but you will be put to death. You are a threat and I will not have a threat to my people." Nyota shook with tears in her eyes "W.wait!! My momma is Luna! Your Sister! Please, talk to her, I am not a threat! Please!" Celestia frowned "I would have noticed if my sister had a monster for a daughter. Do what is to be done". The two guards nod and approach the foal. Nyota shook then bolts trying to escape, she started to scream "MOMMA LUNA!!! MOMMA MOONY!!! HELP ME! HEEELP!!" then a magic blast hits her sending her to the wall. She screams and then gets kicked by a guard. She tries to run but got pinned down.

    She let out another fear filled scream. It was then, on the other side of the palace that Luna heard her daughter's screams. Moony went to see what was happening, when she saw what Celestia was doing, rage filled her heart. She went back to Luna and showed her what she saw as she took over. Luna growls angerly "Do it Moony! Save our Daughter!" Moony dashes into the sky and then crashes through the window into the room where Nyota was cornered. Moony rams herself into the guards sending them into the opposite wall. Celestia rears back and shouts "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" Moony turns putting herself over Nyota and she growls with her magic burning like fire on her horn. "STAY BACK!!!" Nyota then clung to her momma's leg and started crying as she was covered in cuts and bruises that were nasty. Moony shook with rage as she glared wight at Celestia and her guards. "Thou wilst not touch a hair on our child's head or so help us, WE'LL END THEE!" Her voice was that of Nigthmare Moon's and Luna's mixed together.

    Celestia was in shock now, did the foal really tell the truth? "That foal is your daughter?!" Moony hisses "YES!!! I adopted her months ago! You just didn't care enough to notice! Of course you were busy, but what the FUCK are you thinking of KILLING A FOAL?!" Celestia flinches, she told of what happened "I..I just thought of the possible threat she could pose having two separate beings in one body. Like you and Luna, only she is more dangerous. She has a DRAGON living in her. She is a deadly thr..." Moony Roars out "ENOUGH EXCUSES!! She is being TRAINED to control her magic, I KNOW of this dragon side of her. However it was asleep. And from what you told me, it was in self defense and you CHOSE to ignore it!"

    She turns and picks Nyota up in her wing. and she glares "I will NOT allow you to be a THREAT to my Daughter! I will move her to Ponyville where she nad I were gonna go to consult Twilight and Spike on more training." She walks tot he shattered window, Celestia took a step "Moony, I jus..." Moony whips her head around "SHUT UP!!! I have had Enough of you!" She flies off with her daughter. Only she had her guards gather all of Nyota's belongings and she sent one to go get cobalt and have him meet her at Ponyville when he could. She was leaving with her daughter tonight, and now she used her magic to heal up the smaller cuts and hum her little star to sleep. She and Luna now are gonna take extra good care of Nyota, and are gonna move her to a better home AWAY from Celestia. This was now the start of Nyota's journey, and all her future adventures involving her being surrounded by those who truly loved her. This was the right direction for the young princess, and the best change in her life.
