In this picture I have D. Dan in his early elite training days doing a boulder dash.  It is an excersise that measures endurance of using strength over long distances and heavy terrain.  The training takes place in the northern part of the kingdom where he currently resides and has been trained in where there are steep mountains.

The path he is taking is part of an expansive training area for elite knights.  It rises steepley up and down and the path itself also is built on the thin ridge of a mountain range.  The distance that must be takne with the multi ton boulder covers a linear distance of 30 miles and, with consideration of the rises and dips, makes it an actual 50 or so miles.

The mountains poke through one cloudline with deep and expansive forests and meadows below.  There are also a few rivers.  The plant life in the area look like small pine trees and busshy looking plants and trees that grow in the solid rock and any lose soil.

To pass fully with a hundred score, one must make the entire distance in a day without stopping and, in addition, not drop the boulder nor lower it to a degree in comparison to height.  Rarely do any make it the first, nor the several tries thereafter and D. Dan here, not even a full 20 percent in at a slow pace on his first try, is no exception.  Like many, he failed the first time, and several thereafter.  He finally passed after the 17th time which, when compared to the average, is exceptional.

Though, being trained for an elite type of knight, his trainer could never be satisfied with giving a full 100 to anyone and simply found something to lessen the score.  Anyone trianed in real life in the army would know what I mean.  A perfect score is never given.  After all, perfection is to be strived for yet never be attained.  It makes no room for improvement whatsoever.  LOL.  ^\/^.

When rendering the picture, I gave the underside of the boulder a texture to make it look like it was shaved that way.  Also, I did squigly like lines to give the boulder a nice texture to set it apart from the background and to make it less boring than plain white.  The same reasoning was done for the underside to make it less plain and to set it apart from the upper body and the handles under the boulder.  The rendering on the boulder also hides the otherwise overly thick line I gave the boulder.  The line was too thick and needed to be hid in some way.  Two birds with one stone, so to speak.  ROFL.  ^\/^.

I also renderd the path in the same way as the boulder to set it apart from the rest of the picture.  This was for the foreground and background part of the path shown below and on the side of his legs.  I gave the stonework of the path the same rendereing as the boulder to give it a sense that the stone is common and local enougth to be used in a lengthy path over an extensive area.  ^\/^.

The body was rendered in such a manner to make it seem like he is sweating heavily.  The main parts of the body was done in such a way to make it seem like he has a deep contrasting sheen from the sweat.  The head, being more feathered than the main body, was rendered to make it look as though it is matted from the sweat.  I also drew him panting and gave him a posture in the legs, arms and body aligntment to give him a sense of deep ehaustion.

Taken in account the rendering of the body and boulder, the details of the background and foreground, I must say I have done well on this one.  Also, the name of the pic was partly inspired by the word 'Balderdash' which means nonsense or exaggeration.  I took a play on the sound of the word, as well as, inspiration of the definition of the word to name this picture which was otherwise drawn in random.  ^\/^.
