As Kit continues to walk into the light, a Soldier walks out and stops him. The two seem to get into a heated argument that gets worse when the soldier yells out-
Toby: “ASSHOLE!!!”
Selene decides to get closer and hear what Toby is saying.
Kit: “The feeling just died for me, okay!”
Toby: “Did you forget how abandoned she would feel!? You could’ve at least told her why you wanted to leave!”
Kit: “I didn’t want to see her heart break!”
Toby: “You Did More Than Break Her Heart, You Abandoned The Most Wonderful Woman On The Planet!!”
Kit: “WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO!?”
Toby: “BE A MAN AND TELL HER HOW YOU FEEL!!!”
Kit tries to make a break for the light only to get restrained by Toby.
Kit: “Let Go!”
Toby: “Only when you tell Selene Blackcat why you left-“
Suddenly, Toby wakes up to the sent of cinnamon spice. He looks at whatever’s in his arms and realizes that he’s holding Selene while she’s sound asleep. Toby can tell from the setting sun that the day is almost at its end and he brings Selene to his truck to take her home.

Toby pulls up in front of Selene’s home and proceeds to grab her keys from her jacket. As Toby brings Selene inside and looks for her bedroom, the calico begins to move around and shake. She’s having a nightmare, a really bad one. Toby decides to sit on a nearby couch and bring her head to his chest while rubbing her back and holding her close. In all honesty, Toby wanted this. Being close to Selene. He may have a massive headache, but that scent of cinnamon and spices is soothing his hangover. Selene frantically wraps her arms around Toby and stops shaking. She also starts purring again. This isn’t good, Toby doesn’t want her to wake up to see him inside her house. But every time he tries to leave, Selene only starts shaking again. Kit leaving her has taken as big a toll as he could’ve guessed. The strong and confident woman that he saw before he left for training is now in this weakened state… She was strong and confident because of Kit. And Toby makes her feel the same way. Toby moves close to Selen’s ear to whisper.
Toby: “I’ll find Kit for, but you’re going to have to let me go. I’ll have him back by tomorrow, I promise.”
With that said, Selene let Toby go. Toby grabs a nearby blanket and tucks Selene in on her couch. Before he leaves her side, he plants a kiss on her forehead. As much as he’d like for Selene to be by his side, she longs for Kit. And Toby is going to bring the fox back.
