Well, I got Brisby's fur done for the (hopefully) final time and I think it looks quite decent. Might do some tweaks as I test the character but it is mostly done now. Only things missing are a rig for the cape (gotta figure out some good way to do it) and setting up better looking control objects to replace base bones to make using the rig easier. Oh and I might do a higher resolution skin texture for areas where the skin will be visible. But it's not that important.
Rendering this simple thing took <15 minutes on Eevee so she should be usable on proper animations as well.
