es, more experiments. I have a lot to learn about using Blender to create scenes, after all, though I'm getting in over my head with Cycle's nodes.
This attempt added some rust pockets in the walls, though apparently I've done a very poor job of it, as the pockets are way, way too deep.
Now that I'm looking at the scene with a more critical eye, I'm thinking I need to add a rim of metal around the tunnel's opening, as the current edge is a bit too random right now. I think the metal of the walkways also needs a very light amount of fine texture (mostly in the surface normals), as it's a bit too flat right now.
Further suggestions welcome, as I'm a bit out of my depth right now.
Created entirely within Blender, rendered in Cycles, post-processing done in Blender's Compositor. Rendering time: 15 minutes.
(which feels like an age right now, as the last project I worked on took less than five minutes per render)
Inspired, of course, by the Myst series of games created by Cyan, Inc.
