As I said in last journal, I was curious to know what you think. Which one do you prefer? The one on the left or the right?

I'll probably delete this post in a week since the two others are already there separately. Just want to let people time to give me their opinions, either here in the comments or in pm if you prefer.

I prefer left one as well, tho if your goal is to make it look cute, I think you need to increase the illumination too and have a smaller shadow radius, like in this one https://inkbunny.net/s/2478293

I prefer the one on the left. Bigger eyes, darker shadows, more contrast. Although, if I feel especially cuddly and fluffy, I might like pictures drawn with the fluffier style on the right more.

Maybe you could choose your style according to the scene and the mood in the picture you're drawing. Or, after you've mastered those theory things you were talking about earlier, decide the good points in both styles and merge them. uwu

The left head looks better, though the right body fits better.
To me having the one arm on the left have muscles looks a bit weird, I can't pinpoint exactly why.
And the eyes on the right look a bit like they stare at you unnaturally.
Maybe that's just me though.

Hard too say, the ole on the right is younger looking and the left older.

They are both really good. I like the right one more but that's just me liking floofy things :3
Why decide for one though? You can do both styles well so you could offer some variety when taking commissions.

i like the one on the left because he looks like he's missing an arm and i have a fetish for amputees

This is a difficult question to ask. There are parts of both that I like and think are better than the other.
I like the hand/paws of the right over the left as well as the ears style. I prefer the definition of the eyes and mouth on the left over the right. I like the more fluffy style of fur on the right, yet can't help but prefer how the left one has more defined muscle structure. And I might be biased a bit, but I prefer the more gathered together hair style of the left one over the fluffy style of the right.

If I were to be forced to choose just one or the other, though? I think I would lean more towards the left. :3

The left one looks better, but if you combine both, it will be even better.

I like the left more, but what ultimately matters is which one you like more.

I like the fluffiness of the right, but left looks better otherwise.

the first one looks more realistic, and the second one looks more like a chibi

personally, I prefer the first version. but I also like the second version.
I think the choice is yours, pick the style you like the most to do.

Left one. It looks sharper overall and I love the shading on the ears. I also just love his anatomy

Both are great. The left is sharp and beautifully done. The second is the more chibi cute version. You can always use both and switch things up based on whatever will work best for that particular picture.

Real answer: Whichever one motivates you and/or is faster for you so you draw more >_>

The one on the left i find more appealing to look at by anatomy and perspective.

There are good aspects to both, for example, the eyes on the left one are more engaging (the sharpness and detail grab me). The reduction of line art of the one on the right gives a more realistic and immersive feel. The hairstyle is better on the left one (more style, not so much of a 'bowl cut').

While the eyes of the one on the right are nice as well (in their own right), however the outline is too dark, and with a more realistic style like this, you may want to add eyelids/lashes, as the darker outline without that makes it look like he has no eyelids, and that there's just a little space between the eye, and the socket (bit creepy D-:).

As well, eyebrows are a big part of a drawn character's emotions, so I would highly recommend to work some in to the style of the one on the right. It likely wouldn't be straight lines, but rather a bushy, realistic look, using a color that contrasts well with the surrounding features.

With that said, the one on the right is the style you should aim to perfect, as it is amazing visually, and rare for artists to achieve that level of realism. So I would recommend to use the one on the right as a template, while adding some minor improvements/detail.

Other than that, your colors, as well as your use of style and shading, show some deep potential for your future projects. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!

Side note; just eyelids/lashes on the top, any on the bottom (unless the character is squinting), would just be an unnecessary amount of work, that likely wouldn't improve the overall look.
