For some reason, I've always seen Ellie working as a barista as a late teen as she works through college (in the UK, college is ages 16-18 or so). Incidentally, I was driving somewhere and popped into a McDonalds for a quick lunch, and one of the staff there had plaited hair and her name badge read 'Ellie', and I did consider that for my Ellie, but no - I think she's definitely more a coffee shop girl than a McDonalds girl (no disrespect for McDonalds staff by the way!)

I don't know if they still do it, but Pret a Manger (a coffee shop chain in the UK, not sure if it is found elsewhere tbh, despite the fake French name (mangetout, Rodney; mangetout)) used to allow staff to give free coffees to people for various reasons - although I never got one myself. Coffee Palace doesn't have such a policy, which is probably just as well because Ellie would probably give free coffees to everybody. Although she did have to check if she was allowed to give her staff discount to Rachel, to which her manager replied, "She's your girlfriend, why wouldn't you?".

Do you really want to complain when your barista is this cute?

(But, actually, yes - it perhaps is a little overpriced...)

Pret a Manger does translate to 'Ready to Eat', so it's real French, just pretentious.
