Character Description
Melina is a kind, young girl that is easily startled and worries herself about what people think about her.
She has a "special ability" that she has almost no control over, allowing her become nearly imperceptible to others under certain conditions. It is not quite invisibility as she remains present, visible and audible, and can be caught on camera in this state. It is a latent mental power that causes the sensory receptors of the brains of others to perceive her less or not at all. If she is in a pure state of full-adrenaline panic, everyone around will fail to perceive her. If she is scared at something like being wrong in front of a classroom of peers, she may only disappear to the teacher and a few students, unseen and unheard.
If she is simply nervous, but not quite afraid, there is a partial effect, causing her appearance to be "washed out" and easier to miss. As this is not terribly uncommon, she dyes her hair pearlescent lavender and sky blue to stand out as brightly as possible, even under such effects.
Personality
As she has accidentally faded partially or fully by accident in the past, to various levels of reaction from others, Melina places a very high priority on maintaining her appearance. Even when she doesn't want to be the center of attention, she wants to be seen, just to know that she isn't imperceivable. Although she tries to project this outwardly as pride in her appearance, she holds a deep-seated fear that one day she may lose control and fade away to everyone forever.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes: Melina likes to find unique styles that set her apart, even if they are not currently "in trend". She enjoys walks out in the moonlight, when everyone else is as obscured as she might be. As a hobby, she sketches and paints a bit, carrying around a small sketchbook with her schoolbooks. And she what close friends she has, she cherishes beyond all else.
Dislikes: Melina dislikes mean girls and snobs who look down at others for not fitting in, in appearance or in personality. She dislikes the spotlight and being the center of attention; as the more scared she gets of fading away, the more likely it will happen. Watching others from the background, she also sees what fame, even in small social circles can do to people and doesn't like the corruption it can have.
Background/History
Melina lives with her mother in a modest home. It's not lavish, but they know that every bit of it was worked for and none of it is to be ashamed of.
Relatives/Family
Melina has a single mother who cares for her deeply, but can be a bit controlling and overbearing. When your child can literally disappear to others because they are lost and scared, it can have that affect.

Milena collects clothing that interests her from secondhand stores. It's not about the label. It's about what unique look she can create. Layered fabrics and varied textures/patterns are her style, but not enough to be garish.
