Biology and Characteristics

A one of a kind species in their unique, fast evolving ecosystem, Elusect highly specializes in avoiding confrontation before it begins through intimidation.

While at first glance they read as a tall, menacing figure, in reality 70% of their height can be attributed to their jointless, muscular legs.

The bone like structure atop their heads further serve to add to their threatening silhouette. The slit-like indentation's purpose is to look as a second set of eyes, confusing predators.

Their elytra (which actually hold 2 short upper arms, 2 longer lower arms, and no wings) features bright yellow markings, further disincentivizing predators from attempting to hunt it.

The arms themselves feature 3 fingers with 2 joints each. Combined, they are capable of fine manipulation of a single, or multiple objects.

Their lower legs can molt for when food is scarce or when a smaller stature is desired.

They are herbivores, mainly feeding off of sweet fruit trees and berries, using their towering height and lengthy arms to pick among the foliage.
While eating small quantities of meat aren't likely to pose any major health concerns, larger quantities would have difficulty breaking down in their stomach, and could lead to blockage in their digestive tracts.

Like other species of their environment, their yellow iris and markings are highly bioluminescent.

Elusect (referred to as an individual as 'Elu' from here on out) is a serious, experienced survivalist. They hold a fascination with death and collapsed societies, and are fond of settling in to places rich with such history.

They enjoy painting cryptic markings on their environment, with no actual significant meaning.

I know that this is kiiiind of different but I really really wanted to make a monster-like OC with a somewhat simpler design. And besides, it was a ton of fun to look at insect biology as inspiration ha

Sometimes when I have ideas like these I get this lingering feeling that I'm accidentally ripping someone off without realizing it, which I really hope is just dumb paranoia and not secretly my subconscious telling me that im a dirty plagiarist. Anyway yes, Elu, I like them.
