Character Description
To put it clinically: He's a Lucario with shining red eyes and silvery "dreadlocks" who wears a green gilet (which he often forgets to button up completely) with a white shirt underneath. He files his chest spike down because he appreciates a good hug.
His tail is darker near the tip, and he very much likes the green-blue scarf he wears.

Background/History
He's the leading Professor in his field of Archaeology and Ancient History at the Academy of Augusta, and he has been granted a private study with a library on Academy grounds, in which he regularly tutors students upon request.
Aside from this and his lectures though, his heart beats for adventure, so he's out and about a lot. He is qualified to travel Intermediaries on his own.
There is also a "wild" side to him that he'd rather not show around his students. Mostly this manifests in his excitable behavior around ruins and dungeons.
The book he is most invested in is a red book called the "Grimoire" that he found a few years ago at the bottom of the River of Clarity, unharmed by the water. He has yet to translate all of it - he's not even close, in fact -, but the parts he already knows worry him so much he never leaves the arcane thing alone for too long. He suspects wisdom both ancient and dangerous in there, but he will not stop before he knows exactly what he's dealing with.
Relatives/Family
Rubrum was born from a long line of especially red-eyed Pokemon, which in the past has included Guardevoir, Cinderace and Machamp, among others.
He is estranged with his immediate family; not because of any animosity, but because his passions drove him further and further away from his hatch place - until he had one day made his home in Augusta.
If he were asked about his family, he'd name his favourite students (most of all Maestro the Meowscarada), then his favourite books. In that order.
World/Setting
Rubrum hails from the far-away region of Illumina, where Pokemon and humanity live in separated societies, but in harmony - with occasional intermingling in Intermediary Areas between Zones (read: nations). These Intermediaries are home to ferals and other lowlifes, so while there is plenty of adventure, ancient ruins and remnants of older Zones there to be found, it's also inadvisable for the common folk to travel them unescorted.
This Lucario is specifically from an advanced Pokemon zone called Augusta, a meritocracy in which the Great Academy of Augusta is in charge of governance and education. Its area of direct influence is so great that it in fact divided into the massive school grounds themselves, the Inner Circle, as well as much of the surrounding cities and villages, the Greater Circle. Most young Mons in Augusta attend the Academy, but plenty of more experienced folks also go in and out too, and all age groups are found among both teachers and students.
As a matter of identification, every student in either the Inner or Greater Circle must wear a necklace bearing the symbol of the Academy, the so-called Aurum Gear.
Every teacher such as Rubrum is to have the symbol embroidered on their clothing at least once.
