Character Sheet for Victor Van
Nickname(s)
Vic, Victor
Sex/Gender
Male
Species
Snowshoe hare
Age
27
Character Description
One of my oldest characters, he's an integral part of Annabelle's history. Which role he plays varies, but he's usually the toxic, abusive ex who can't let her go.
Personality
He has a short attention span and an even shorter fuse.
He is an intimidating guy to deal with for most, but can also put on a charming and charismatic facade when necessary. One who doesn't know him would be surprised at how educated and intelligent he is, eclipsed by his hotheadedness and poor impulse control.
He never learned to manage his emotions in a healthy way, so experiencing strong emotions usually makes him erupt in anger, violence and frustration.
Vic will absolutely beat the shit out of you for eating with your mouth open.
As a result of his poor impulse and emotional control, his relationship with Annabelle is/was a volatile one. He would hate her for her quiet, shy nature and background as a sex worker. But at the same time, he finds her smile and eyes the most beautiful in the world, and wants to embrace her and hold her near. These inner conflicts of his would result in a controlling, belligerent, and abusive relationship which Anne would do anything to escape.
Background/History
Vic is a buck who got fed up with the life his family wanted to force him to live, but instead of choosing a straight, honest, albeit different, path he took one that was not only the polar opposite of his family's; but one that rapidly lead him down on a path of crimes, violence and substance abuse.

He was raised in a rich-to-upper middleclass family. His parents were well off, but they knew their children could do even better, and so they were almost slavishly pushing Victor and his siblings to strive for perfection in everything they did. Failure or anything other than a perfect result resulted in punishment. Whether they be chores or physical abuse handed out by their father.
Vic tried to be a good kid at first, he wanted his family to be proud of him, but these pressures just kept mounting up. His behavior started out as a trickle; he would bully his siblings and fellow children, sometimes throwrocks at or beat feral beasts, start arguments over nothing.
When the dam finally burst, Vic snapped into full violence to the point where he would regularly get in trouble wherever he went. He was kicked out of school, in modern day settings he would get into trouble with local police so often they would know him on a first name basis.

Eventually, his father had had enough and disowned his own son at age 16. Vic was thrown out and eventually even the rest of his family cut ties with him.
But Vic was never alone.
He quickly found himself in the company of crime syndicates, and was not only doing well; he was thriving. He gained respect and made a name for himself wherever he went. Especially when he got involved with "The Warren".

The Warren takes on a different shape depending on the setting.
In modern/recent history they are the smallest of three mafias controlling a city, but the most feared.
In medieval fantasy settings they are a thieves' guild secretly running a small port city, known to impose mob-like systems on its inhabitants.
In a wild west setting, they are gunslingers and enforcers working for the cruel and greedy land baron Woodrow Warren.
In a sci-fi setting they're a band of space-mercs, willing to do anything for money.

Either way, Vic's position as one of the lead figures for the Warren never changes. A position he is quick to earn thanks to his fearlessness, mercilessness, intelligence and charisma.

It is while in the Warren that he meets Annabelle Franklin, a sweet, softspoken rabbit doe that immediately catches his eye.
Despite that sex workers disgust him, and whether he meets her as a prostitute or finds out what she once were, he can't seem to get enough of her. To the point where he turns controlling and obsessed. Turning into a version of his father, only difference is that Vic is often hopped up on illicit drugs and alcohol as well.
When the abuse turns physical, it is lucky that Anne still has other friends that can help her get away from him. At least, in most settings.

But when she has the audacity to fall in love with (or get taken by) the aussie boyo Alistair O'Connor, that's when Victor gets... worse.
It is not certain whether what he feels for Anne is love or just lust and obsession, but all he feels knowing that his most prized "possession" is in the hands of a filthy canine is homicidal hatred and rage. For them both.

This rabbit dude has issues indeed. But whether or not it was his parents' constant pressuring and abuse that made him the way he is, or if it was something he was born with, nobody knows.
However, his younger brother Hector, who also left their family and joined him in the Warren a few years later, somehow ended up even worse so there's that!
Relatives/Family
The only family member he's still close to, or even on speaking terms with, is his younger brother Hector
World/Setting
Wherever Anne goes, he's there.
Like with bananas and fruit flies.
Body
He's tall and physically fit, albeit on the lanky side. He moves really quick and is definitely the type who relies more on movement than size.
His fur is a natural grayish tan, with darker and lighter markings. With blonde hair and dark blue eyes.
However, as a snowshoe hare he sheds his fur towards wintertime and replaces it with a snowy white coat. A process he absolutely hates and finds embarrassing, even if the white, softer fur makes him quite popular with the ladies.
