The sigbin is a creature from Filipino mythology/folklore. According to folklore, they are kept by demons (dubbed “aswang”) & forced to do their bidding. It is said that they’re kept by humans known as “sigbinan” who have the rare power to command the creatures. Sigbin are also said to bring good luck to those who keep them, and are often rumored to be kept by the rich and powerful. Those who do keep them are said to keep them in clay jars filled with blood and hair from animals, which it feeds on in captivity, along with bones & charcoal. The sigbin is known to run backwards with its head upside down between its legs due to its front legs being short and stubby. Legends say they emerge during Holy Week & hunt down children in the dead of night, ripping their hearts out to turn into amulets they wear around their neck. They’re said to turn invisible at will, often hiding in the shadows. They are said to attack adults as well, albeit much more rarely, and instead of ripping their hearts out, they drain their body of its blood. Sigbin are said to emit a nauseating stench.

I made this base originally to make my own sigbin character, but decided since there’s very little out there about these strange creatures as far as lineart goes, I worked it into a nice free base too. Please do not claim it as your own, I worked hard on this! Edits are fine, would LOVE to see what y’all come up with.

I do not own this species; it is a creature from Filipino mythology. The creation of this base was made to show appreciation for the mythical creature & not to disrespect the culture. I do hope my respect for this creature & the culture it originated from shows through both this base & this description.
