It was a hot, summer day. Me and Dakota decided to spend it at the beach. We then packed our stuff and went to the beach. When we got there, I noticed I forgot to bring my swim trunks. I then thought it would be ok to swim in my athletic shorts. I thought: “what’s the difference?” As me and Dakota walked toward the water, several other beach goers noticed a tag on my shorts. It read “super sweat absorbent.” We then heard them yelling at me not to go in the water, but I didn’t listen. Me and Dakota then got in the water for a swim. We were having a great time playing and splashing each other. Then Dakota noticed a big wave heading towards us. He yelled at me to move, but it was too late. The wave hit me and knocked me down. I then got up and laughed it off. However, we then started to hear a loud sucking and draining sound. We didn’t know what it was. It kept getting louder and louder and then we noticed the water level dropping. We could tell the ocean was draining, but we didn’t know why. As the water continued to drain, we saw a sailboat hit the seabed and there wasn’t much water left at this point. Then, the remaining water disappeared and I felt a “bounce up.” That’s when we realized what happened, sweat wasn’t the only thing my shorts could absorb. I looked down and saw my shorts were swollen with all the ocean water. I then looked around and saw that the entire ocean was gone. No more water. We could then hear several angry beach goers complaining that their vacation was now ruined. Dakota started laughing, thinking the whole thing was funny. But I wasn’t, I was now stuck there, unable to move because of my huge shorts. I would need Dakota to roll me home.
