The Calapooia Water Nymph, inspired by the statues on the Fontaine des Innocents in Paris, France and statues of Sabrina, the Severn River Nymph, in the Dingle at Shrewsbury, England.

The Calapooia River is a tributary of the Willamette River in Oregon, flowing in with the latter in the town of Albany. The choice of a Cayuse pony came from Calapooia, one of the animals in the menagerie at the Albany Historic Carousel and Museum.
