Huh. And four weeks later he's married to the kobold with six children and she tells him that counted as an attack so he was free to kill her at any moment.

that would be a major dick move

considering the dragon stepped on a trap, which was revealed previously to NOT be an attack

and she saved the dragon's life by grabbing him, and technically a grab is not an attack

Attack: To take an aggressive or violent action against a place, person, or object (typically with a weapon of some sort).

She wasn't aggressive (swift/quick isn't aggressive) and she wasn't violent (it's pretty non-violent to save a life).

Also...If I gently poke you on the shoulder, just enough for you to feel it, have I attacked you simply because I touched you?
And if a mother hugs her child sending them off to school did she attack them because she grabbed them?

Really depends on the rules of the universe. In DnD anything that takes the same amount of time as an attack can be considered an attack action depending on which version you use and interpret the rules.

Except it's been established traps don't count as attacks despite taking the same amount of time and being hostile action.

So it can be safely assumed an Attack, mechanically, is only performed when damage is attempted by an individual directly.

Since she's not attempting to damage him directly here, it's not an Attack.

Not actually. At least not in previous editions (the 5th edition rules are, admittedly, poorly written at times). You had Standard Action, and Move Action. Standard Actions include attacks along with other actions that require a fair amount of focus, but only something offensive counted as an attack (attacking, casting spells, using certain abilities) where other actions were not (taking a potion, pulling something from a bag, activating a lever). Move Actions were generally things that could be done while also preforming other actions, or that did not require focus. This mostly covered anything that wasn't a free action (such as talking or concentrating on a spell), and typically involved moving the character in some way. Walking, jumping, standing up, or laying down were all Move Actions.

Interesting Question:
- In chapter 25, it was stated that A TRAP does not count as an "Attack"; therefore, that means the "ME FIRST" skill doesn't apply as a defense.
- The Kobold has no defense against traps as shown in chapter 41; even against her own trap.
- And the Dragon has no problem with breaking a deal with the Kobold as shown in chapter 42 - 43.

So, the question is; "Couldn't the Dragon just set up a Trap near or in the Kobold's tent, so when she returns, she'll set it off and die. Thus, getting rid of his Kobold problem?"
