Character Sheet for Mel
Character Description
Mel is a black and white furred dragonborn with an unusual biology. He is covered in fur instead of scales, a smaller facial structure, two black horns, and slightly glowing purple eye. He has psionic abilities which had originally manifested as minor telepathy and the ability to conjure daggers. Originally a Soulknife Rogue, he has since undergone months of specialty training to change to a drakewarden ranger, honing his psionic abilities to instead conjure his new companion, Tesi.
Tesi is a psionic construct taking the form of a 4-legged, 2-winged blue drake of medium size. He allows Tesi to operate mostly independently and develope her own psudo personality. They are able to mentally share thoughts and images with each other and he can issue mental commands. With her ability to sprout wings she often performs surveillance for the party. In combat she supports the party by being able to flank the enemies, offering their allies advantage in combat as well as taking a bit of heat from the others. As she is a construct, she can be summoned for free once per day then more with the expense of a spell slot.
In combat Mel sticks to using his longbow, with his feats for Mobility and Sharpshooter coupled with a high dexterity he's become quite the powerful support. His spells, of which he doesn't have many, are mainly focused on minor healing and other support spells. In melee he has Arrbane, a trusty longsword with finesse properties he's able to use with deadly precision.
Personality
Mel was a very frightened and nervous bean, an outcased and betrayed, and wanting to flee from battle. However, the years of nighting side by side his friends has molded him into someone confident in his abilities and a tactical thinker able to support his friends. He's now confident, but still haunted by his past as he tries to move past it. He often misinterprets social situations leading him to look like an idiot, such as the time he mistook someone's pronoun 'they' to mean 'they' as in the entire city, and is not under the impression the city is scared of him and that's why nobody wants to be his friend, and has developed a "Well fuck you I am me and I don't need to conform to everyone's whims" stance.
Likes/Dislikes
He's got a soft spot for children and orphans, growing up as an orphan himself. he donates gold gained from his adventuring to the local orphanage and helps out when there's downtime. The kids love him and often use his soft fur as a pillow.
He hates those who look down on others or make things miserable for other people. He's confident in himself and now stand up for those who cant, sometimes getting into trouble himself. In once such case an old mysterious lady was insulting his friend, he tried to remain civil but it came to blows. The old lade used a spell to launch his friend through the roof. Mel then snapped, he couldn't harm her due to her defensive spells, but the same was not true for her shop. he proceeded to destroy several shelves before she launched him as well. He's still proud of that.
Background/History
In this DnD game, Dragonborn in general are an enslaved race and used for manual labor or exotic pets. Mel was thrown out to die due to being a runt of the litter, and grew up in the streets as an urchin, starving to death and barely eating enough to keep going. This further stunted his growth. He has since honed his skills in stealing and is self taught. The stresses of his every day life seemed to awaken an odd power within himself, a small pool of psionic power. He keeps this to himself, just in case he is captured to be enslaved once again.
His small stature at barely 5 feet tall and lack of strength meant a lifetime of bullying and being the punching bag of other dragonborn and other races in general. To a dragonborn, Mel is an abomination. No strength or scales or self worth to speak of, they took out their stress on the young man.
His adventure has further revealed that he is a rare survivor of genetic experimentation. An as of yet unknown individual has been experimenting on dragonborn eggs, making chimeras. Most of these fail in a still birth or a creature who only knows pain and dies soon after hatching. Mel's soul is confirmed to be patchwork, making him a chimera, explaining why he is furred and why he is intersex, and has many traits not associated with dragonborn as well as extra unknown organs. He has an odd ability to wield a dragon's breath attacks, changing based on actual parts of dragons he has found. With the red scale, he is able to breath fire. With the blue scale he can breath lightning.
His mind is also a fragile thing, housing two separate conscious imprints deep in his subconscious, and they are pissed off at him because has not a proper dragonborn. he is still working on figuring that out.
Relatives/Family
The closest thing he has to family are the Tieflings who took him in as a child and the current party he has been traveling with for over a year. He never knew his mother or father and the words of bullies and jeers meant nothing to him, but it is rumored that his mother was a whore and had sold her body and eggs for drugs.
World/Setting
The world is a homebrew desert planet, not too far off from Dune. Ruins are buried and secrets kept, the gods are dead and the world is falling into a void. The only hope for salvation is to gather the seeds of the world and rejoin them, the hope being the rebirth of the world.
The desert is dangerous. Secretive nomads sail about in their sand ships, travel is often beget with storms of fire and sand, monsters roam almost freely and only the truly brave and skilled (or stupid and insane) are able to travel between the few scattered remnants of society.
Body
Black and write with a tuxedo pattern, white belly, white lower jaw, large fluffy ears and two black horns protruding back from just over his eyebrows. His eyes are purple with a slight glow, his hands and feet have fingerless glove markings. His legs are digitigrade and end in large paws with sharp claws.
Clothing
When adventuring he wears enchanted leather armor, otherwise he has some common clothing as well as both a nice suite and a nice dress for when he feels pretty.
Accessories
He has a pair of earrings he stole from a mansion and a broch from his old caretaker at the prphanage.
