Hi there! Back at it again with another — the same — Super Animal Royale remix! A few things about the old version made me want to rework the song from the ground up and try it again. I wasn't quite happy with the overall outcome of the last version of this remix.
First and foremost, the thing you'll notice is that I'm no longer "playing Duos" but am "playing Solos" this time — that's to say, this is no longer a collaboration like the last one; this one is all me! The reason why the last version was a collaboration was mainly because I couldn’t figure out how to make a drop just yet. I had found CHSH on FurAffinity and they worked in a style that I, at first, thought would work with the idea I had for this song. His portion of the song — the riddim-style drop — was not bad; it just wasn't the idea I had for the song. But, there was nothing I could do at the time, so I went with it.
At the time, I had absolutely no clue how to structure a dubstep/brostep drop the way I wanted. Ever since that first [version] was uploaded, I had been working, learning, and messing with the song to see how to transform it into the sound that I initially wanted. I learned a few techniques, and I tried simply experimenting with my own knowledge. Eventually, I settled with using the two main presets that take up the majority of the section: a preset for the Vital plugin and a preset for the Serum plugin. That was taken care of. Now for the psytrance/hard techno/whatever-that-style-is section.
I would like to preface that my brain works in strange ways. Because of this, I’ll do things that seem unorthodox or wholly unrelated to my music. This is fine, but sometimes I will forget to explain them or provide context for them so that people can understand that I'm not just crazy (most of the time) and that there is a method to the madness. The “B” section of the song — where it sounds like a completely different song was introduced and mashed together for no immediately apparent reason — does have an explanation and makes much more sense than initially perceived. A technique I do sometimes — I don't know the name of it, but it’s probably just, like, “variations” or a “fugue” or something — I will take the melody of a song verbatim and I will expand upon it, creating variations of it. The melody that plays throughout the B section consists of the same melodic line that is the Default Dance song, it just (default) dances around it. If you would like me to expound on how and why I think this to be a “fugue”, let me know. I’m always happy to share my basic music theory knowledge with people (that way it won’t go to waste).
