What is a shark doing in the desert? Easy. Fulmine Ageis is a soldier and son of Rome from Rome itself. However due to his preferences and tastes for the company of men, wound up getting himself in some rather hot water. After being found out of sleeping around with some of his fellow soldiers, rather than be disavowed, arrested or sent to prison, his father slipped him out of the city and to the coast to avoid prosecution.
Fulmine was sent off on a trireme for the south, finding himself in what would be his new home: the Roman province of Aegyptus. Specifically, Alexandria. Somewhere where the eyes and rules were far less stringent than in Rome proper. As hard as it was for Fulmine to leave his home and family, the new posting found him with a bit of a promotion, including being in charge of a local "city guard" legion.
Thinking this was going to be awful, the desert being plenty hot and sandy, he began to like his new posting. Not to mention the fact he met an Egyptian jackal and fell in love, further cementing his new life in Aegyptus.
