Of course, this drawing, this photo, and this rendered photo don't do any justice for the real thing.
I did a few quick glances without the eclipse shades once the eclipse was total, and it is nothing like you've ever seen before. The pure white was like a neon light on steroids.
The eclipse I glanced at twice in 1970 was equally as awesome, though a little different.
I only wish there was a camera that existed that could capture the full extent of what it really looks like so it could be shared with those who either didn't get an opportunity to see it, or was too afraid to glance at it without the shades.
In fact, I don't see a video online what so ever that matches what actually seeing it looks like.

Below are two videos recorded northeast of Clinton, Arkansas from a roadside location overlooking several miles of basin. The views in the videos are looking north to northeast
This location was about a mile from the exact center of the path of totality.

Below is a link to a video of the arrival of the total shadow, which occurs near the end of the video.

Below is a link to a video of the eclipse departing.

After the eclipse was past, I was told the bight spot on the south end was a solar flare from the sun.

We definitely agree on one thing, photos don't do the eclipse justice at all, even the photos my dad took on his £1,500 phone don't come close to doing it justice, I don't think I'll ever experience something so jaw dropping again X3

I've experienced that only one other time in 1970.
Back then, they, including our middle school science teacher, were telling everyone not to even look at it without the shades...However, I took two quick glances at it without the shades anyway.

It's rewarding to see as long as you don't stare at it to long.

Thanks for posting. I wish I could have seen it.
Was that dog howling because of the eclipse or he is always like that?

That noise was a dog howling that wouldn't quit.

I think that dog was howling at me being across the road.

I do love how it became this big national event.
