Here we have space pirate Ascian, the dirty rotten pirate and captain of Pentazer Trisagion, after an accord has been made between them. Ascian's unusual iridescent eyes is due to a mysterious surgery called "The Edge." The way it functions and the inner workings of how it even comes to be is a secret known only to the madman who created it. The Edge grants momentary foresight into events and allows one to “see” a clear path through chaos of action. This type of precognition and clairvoyance allows someone to dodge bullets by having seen where they’re going before they were fired, or to visualize a path through combat to strike a keen blow in melee while avoiding all the ways that it could be intercepted. There is no way to properly control or designate how precise this power extends, but there are times where whole sequences of events can play out in the user’s perception allowing them to selectively chose from a multitude of potential outcomes and pick the one that suits them best.

Space Pirate Ascian
Ascian grew up from a modest colony with low career aspirations, being in the Outer Ring. The feline had heard stories about the legendary blue rogue Neko DeVayne as a cub and spent many hours romanticizing about space pirates, buccaneers and the freedom to go where he pleases, to explore the secrets of space that are simply waiting to be discovered by an adventurous spirit.

With nonexistent prospects at home, Ascian signed up to join the survey division of a company known as Deleportas Mining. A massive, tier I mining megacorp that held survey and exploitation rights over a number of systems in the Outer Ring. The initial excitement of the prospect of exploring the stars later gave way to drudgery, as he was often tasked to explore already surveyed systems for mineral deposits or anything the initial survey teams might have missed. While he had occasionally tangled with pirates or hostile fauna, there was little prospect of true exploration or discovery.

Ascian both learned things on the job, such as how to handle a blade and gun, as well as was given instruction courses in basic leadership, first aid, and survival. As he turned twenty, things seemed to be looking up as he was promoted to Pathfinder and allowed to lead initial survey teams into newly claimed systems. Before Ascian could lead his first expedition into the unknown, the announcement came through Deleportas Mining that the survey division would be downsized. The recently promoted Pathfinder found himself suddenly unemployed.

It was here when he was approached by another Pathfinder, and old veteran of the company known as Linus Nicklas, and someone who Ascian had served under in his early years. During the conversation, Linus mentioned that he knew Neko DeVayne at one point. While never divulging his own relationship with the pirate, he pointed to Ascian that he should visit a surgeon, slipping the name Dr Rathemthal. An abyssal dragon of ill repute, known for performing unusual bio-mechanical experiments using unknown and unnatural materials. At the end of the conversation they part ways, and Ascian, having nowhere else to go and no desire to climb up the corporate ladder again in another company, makes his way.

Arriving at Dr. Rathemthal's lab. The abyssal dragon is quite surprised, initially mistaking Ascian for the legendary pirate DeVayne. Once the confusion was cleared, Ascian inquired about the experimental treatment. Rathemthal initially refused, the experimental treatment involved had an incredibility high fatality rate. However, he had decided to look up Ascian to satisfy some curiosity. It was here that Ascian found out that he was the nephew of the famous pirate Neko DeVayne. With that knowledge, Dr. Rathemthal had theorized that perhaps Ascian's genetics would allow for lightning to strike twice. Thus, he agreed to perform the experiment.

Ascian survives the treatment and gains what is known as "The Edge". Finding out that he is the blood relative of DeVayne, as well as surviving being given the same treatment as the former rogue had instilled in him new resolve to follow in his uncle's footsteps. The dragon reveals that the real name of the famous pirate was Rayleigh Koshka. He hands Ascian a code and informs him to go to Derbian Prime with a specific address. Rathemthal explains that he was once told by Rayleigh that if he lived long enough, that would be where you could find him.

Departing from Dr. Rathemthal's lab, Ascian made his way back to Deleportas Mining. There, he reconnected with many of his friends, former co-workers who had also been laid off such as Yurenow, Conroy, Vatlin, and Sira. After telling them of his trip to Rathemthal and his intentions. Many, having little employment prospects of their own, decided to follow Ascian to the Inner Ring, jokingly vowing to follow the descendent of Neko DeVayne to be famous renegades.

Spending the remainder of their cash to reach Derbian Prime. The world was rocky, rugged, and had little signs of life on its surface. There were only a few large permanent settlements, but the world was a well-travelled shipping hub, with transports and cargo constantly changing hands. The address in particular pointed to one of the massive arcologies that was a core part of the shipping hub. They reach the address in question, and entered into a grand estate hidden deep inside.

Exploring the small sliver of Eden, Ascian and his small band are met by none other than Neko DeVayne. After reminiscing, Ascian finds out that DeVayne had found his motherlode treasure and promptly retired. Seeing Ascian's desires, his small but loyal crew, and his own aspirations in the young lynx. He asks Ascian what he wants to achieve, and why he got the same surgery, when it could have, should have, killed him. Ascian took a few minutes, but answered that he always wanted to see the stars, discover new worlds, find something that no one in the galaxy has ever seen. It was an answer that satisfied DeVayne, as he told Ascian and his crew to follow their dreams, live their lives as they see fit, and to not let anyone tell them what they can and cannot do.

As Ascian departed, DeVayne revealed to him the location of the Weatherlight. It was located in a secret hangar on the third moon of Iridum Corsica. The retired pirate gives Ascian the access codes, and tells him to take his ship and sail to the stars. With a farewell, the rogue and his crew made their way to the old vessel.

After finding the mothballed ship, Ascian and his initial crew embarked on their new home. It turned out that the skills and experience that the former Pathfinder and his crew had learned during their service in Deleportas Mining served them well as rogues. Most of them knew the inner workings of sensors even better than your average specialist, and took full advantage of that in their hit and run strategies, often disappearing from a pursuing asset protection team's sensors like ghosts.

Calling themselves 'Ghost Cat Corsairs', they would regularly target the transports and coffers of to to large tier megacorporations and the occasional stellarcorporation, having no love for such after their own experiences. Their crew steadily grew in size as they would regularly take on misfits, outcasts, and volunteers from all walks of life. The only requirements are that they followed the captain's code, did their job, and followed orders. While they certainly plundered their fair share of loot, they always spared the crews, never harmed non-combatants, and allowed their plundered quarry to escape and call for help.

The first initial rumors surrounding the Ghost Cats referred to the return of Neko DeVayne, but as Ascian grew more established and had his own characteristics separate from Neko, the rumours morphed into him being the son of DeVayne, following in his father's footsteps. He would regularly tangle with the local system patrols and corporate response teams, using his uncanny ability to constantly best them, or, should overwhelming firepower be brought, be always at least one step ahead and slip through their fingers.

It has been two years since that day. The Weatherlight now has a full compliment, all of whom having numerous successful raids under their belt. The original Deleportas surveyors who formed the crew now mostly serve as officers, passing down their knowledge and expertise. It was not the most profitable life as unlike Neko DeVayne, they have not found their motherlode yet. The profits however have been enough to keep the fuel tanks filled, food in the crews bellies, and enough extra to buy the occasional treat.
