I was lucky enough to spend 26 months in Japan back in the late 1970s.  I didn't learn a lot of Japanese but what I learned I still remember.  One thing I definitely learned is that all Japanese people speak a little English (It's a requirement to graduate from high school.) but, they're afraid of mispronouncing it so you need to know a little Japanese to get them to be willing to use what they know.  The best thing to do is learn a little Japanese and, when you approach a Japanese person, use it.  This will show them that you're a foreigner (gaijin) but you respect them enough to learn their language.  That will make them more open to speaking English to you.

Oh!  I wish I had the spare money to join your Patreon.  I'd love to see the rest of the comic but, at this time, I'm stretched pretty thin.  Maybe in the future, I'll be able to join.
