so there's no real official countdown to our big holiday like with the days of Christmas or with an advent calendar, both were invented by the Romans, the people the Durists despised.
I suppose it makes sense, they were very proud of their hard graft after all so only have 1 day off in the entire month is very much their style. Traditionally they didn't even take weekends off work either.
However, how are we meant to signify a holiday without any indicator?
I say some basic themes for the next 30 days wont go amiss as long as the work is done as well.
The only problem is that there's nothing official, most ideas are Victorian, adapted from other religions into Durism, straight out of novels or made as malicious propoganda against Durism by their haters.
There are however days of the week using the traditional system but they consist of just Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday traditionally.
But since there are 5 of them and quite handily the 30 days divides by 5 we can has 6 sets of themed days in Sate month, ending on a Tuesday for the 21st of December since Tuesday is actually Dur's day of the week.
So that would make today, the 22nd, a Wednesday or Woadstag in old Norse, tomorrow, the 23rd, is Friday or Frigstag, the day after, the 24th, is Sunday or Amenstag, the day after that, the 25th, is Monday AKA Maamstag, the 26th is Tuesday or Durstag and on the following day, which is the 27th, it loops back around to Woadstag and the pattern repeats until December 21st.
So today is the first Woadstag or "wood day" to us.
Woadstag is traditionally the day where gifts of food are left out for animals to collect and take back to the forest and this time in the year that was usually nuts and dried fruit.
So feel free to feed a bunch of squirrels today or something.
Oh and 1 more thing about today.
The day is about foraging creatures i.e. herbivores.
Helping out carnivorous animals today is kinda bad luck.
I mean, you can still feed them and still look after them just don't go out of your way to do anything you don't normally do for them today, that's not the idea.
Basically that encourages evil forest spirits to try and steal your stuff so try to avoid that.
I expect to see a bunch of forest critters drawn on LOL now.
Basically really any creature that lives in the forest but kinda avoid predators if you can.
