How y'all doing?
I'm currently working to get more on top of my game when it comes to art and commission work. I gotta say, I'm both proud of, and disappointed in myself.
I've gotten a large number of commissions done, at least comparatively. But it came at the cost of not really doing my own personal art. And while I think that should be expected, it does still bum me out a bit because it's like...I'm not creatively stimulating myself on a personal level. I'm not forwarding my own projects. I'm just sort of existing. I hope I can get to doing my own stuff more often alongside my commissions.
I think the big issue with that is this weird mental tick I have. If I attempt to take a break and draw something for me, I just get this sinking feeling, where my brain constantly berates me for wasting time on 'frivolous' art instead of doing what I'm paid for. It sucks and I don't know how to really power through it some days.
BUT, onto the positives. As stated, commission work is going well. I managed to completely evacuate my overdue backlogs. As of now, every commission I currently have is new, relatively speaking. And I have a decent (although imperfect) rhythm for taking them on now. I do still have spells where I just need to blow off steam in a video game or something, but they aren't as intrusive as before.
I am currently considering a small price hike for my commission work, as I think my skill has improved enough to warrant it. I hope to also make a commission sheet.
Issue with the latter is, there's so much specificity to how I work on things that a commission sheet would likely end up being several pages long. Is that something reasonable? Or should I try my best to condense everything down into just one or two pages?
Additionally...because I know people like to not use the Blacklist function, I've been considering new ways to communicate content in thumbnails. I'm thinking about adding simplistic icons for each "kink" present. Possibly only for Adult pictures, but potentially for Mature ones as well. I'm uncertain.
