Nimona Rules!! 💖

As a lover of Giant Japanese Kaiju (Gezora, Baragon, Biollante, Titanosaurus, etc.), Sharp-Toothed Animals (Yours truly ^<^) and embracer of the misunderstood & lonesome, I highly recommend this wonderfully animated movie.

A story of genuine love, forgiveness and empathy. 10/10 chomps on a pizza.

Really uplifted my whole mood tonight ^_^

Yes, it made me very happy ^u^ Nimona is the closest movie character I know to my OC Sherbet, in terms of personality, appearance and powers, so I felt very cozy and uplifted watching her, it felt like hanging out with a best friend ^u^

At the moment, I’m trying to become more free-spirited. For most of my life I have doubted and second guessed everything I do. It’s an exhausting and demoralising way to live life: Constantly telling myself all the reasons why I’m not good enough, all the things I’ve done wrong. I’m trying to change that. I’m trying to be more carefree, more proud, to tread less lightly. I think Nimona is a great role model for me to look up to as I try to do that. She’s proof that wild and free does not equal bad, and that I can make the world better by loosening the chains I’ve put around myself.

I also think that the movie helped me to understand gender identity a bit better, especially the analogy of dysphoria being like “the second right before you sneeze”, and of expressing your authentic self being a feeling of relief: “then I shapeshift, and I’m free”. I love that. As a cis person I’ll never be able to fully understand what it’s like to be trans, but I’m grateful to have a little bit more of an idea.

The art style is awesome, it’s exactly the kind of aesthetic I like. Crisp lighting, fluid movement, bright, flat cartoony colours, it’s exactly what appeals to me. The character designs are adorable 🥰 Especially Nimona’s forms. Otters are my favourite animal, and Nimona’s otter form makes me want to squeal with joy. She’s the most precious thing I’ve seen ;u; Her armadillo form is super cute too >u< All of them are ^u^ Her human form is super cute too, I love her chubby cheeks and her floofy playful-but-fierce reddish-pink hair, and her sharp cute little fangs. The way she is so comfortable with her own wildness and ferocity makes me feel safe, because I feel like she would be comfortable with my own wildness, too. I could see her as the bestest best friend ^u^

Oh so true! Unravelling who you are is important for everyone, and it can be very hard - especially when doing it on our own. I feel that - Doubting your thoughts and seeing more wrong than right. I'm really happy you're taking pride in yourself lately, that's wonderful :D Aww for sure, Nimona shows the great parts of a free spirited life ^_^ Appreciate her as a role model even more thanks to your observations. Certainly an incredible achievement for the movie.

Oh that scene! YES, loved her words there! Right! A strong analogy for gender identity. I admired how open she was with her feelings - describing them with such authenticity true. That self-love she expressed which hopefully more people like in the trans community are experiencing and getting tremendous support for. Yeah well said, a better understanding ^-^

OH YEAH! So with you there! It matched up with the story's themes in freedom and hopefulness pretty well. Aww truly! Fluid, fast and with great colors yeah!! Oh my gosh, I LOVED her otter form xD Ha ha, pushing the chair with her small hands, ahhh cuteness overload!! So glad you got to see your favorite animal there :D And YUP! I cheered for all her forms too ^-^ I remember loving her lil' Ostrich giggle and Gorilla roar xD

Awws So agree! Everytime her human form gave that wide, exaggerated sharp smile - my heart lit right up! So reassuring and honest. I like that you point out her reddish-pink palette and wildness. So encouraging for people to see flourish onscreen with Ballister. It made me feel so appreciative of the people I get to cheer on in life, that everyone deserves to be as confident and happy with themselves as Nimona got to achieve ^_^ Having a friend like her would make all the difference, yup! I loved all the moments with her otter form hehe :D I love the wiggly way she walks while talking to Gloreth :D And I love the way she’s got the playfulness, the cuteness and the ferocity of real otters, that unique combination that makes them so… ottery 🦦. Like with the “that cast looks delicious >:3” scene, that was super otterlike <3 I find otters’ playful ferocity to be captivating and I’m really happy that the movie portrayed that so well :3

Her laugh as an ostrich was super cute, I agree >u< I loved seeing her that happy ^u^ And the “boop” as a gorilla was cute too. It was so silly and playful ^u^
