help! not sure how to receive payment

for a few reasons, most apps and services (paypal, cashapp, stripe, etc) arent options for me

while i was stuck in the usa i could just receive e-gift cards, but those are region-locked for some reason, so since i have returned to my home and native land, that has not been an option (the site just declines any foreign cards, even from the usa; vpn doesnt affect it either)

crypto seems cool but i have a tapioca brain that makes things like that impenetrably confusing, and its not practical to ask people to set up crypto wallets & exchange accounts just for my commissions anyway...

any ideas?

are you in a sanctioned country by chance ?  if so crypto may be your only option.  If not sanctioned and no crypto about the only other option I can think of would be to find a merchant that would take payment for you that can handle the currency changes or set up an account where you can receive wires.

no, fortunately, though the region locked card think sorta feels like it :'^)

im not sure what sort of merchant could do that but perhaps its something to look into

thanks for the suggestion!

Get a card in your home country and attach it to PayPal. That ought to work.

They said in the post that paypal isn't an option for them.

The question is do you need it completely "anonymous" or not? If not, western union is an option or some postal money orders (depending on the country but many had it cancelled between each other, still works between some).

you have to give out a LOT of personal information for wire transfer, which is kind of a deal breaker :(
ive heard its a really bad idea to send money in the mail anyway, too many opportunities for it to get "intercepted" or "detained"
thanks for the suggestions though :)

western union is not exactly wire transfer, they will not get to know where you live, just your legal name and state...but well

as for mail, it depends how you secure it, but with postal money orders that's different story, it can work similar to telegraphic mail, paid by post office etc
but again they would have to know your name and even the place of the post office in this case, plus only some states support it between each other in the modern times...

im not even usa-based, which makes it all more complicated—i got a western union transfer while i was in the usa once and i had to go to a bunch of different locations because nobody had any idea how to do international stuff lmao

I use WU all the time for international transfers. And if they didn't train some agents, then those people shouldn't be even doing it, I mean international transfer is kind of the point of that. Its one of the most reliable ways to do internation transfers. But a lot of countries have it differently and if you find a bad apple in some area, some people slacking on the WU side of things, you're pretty much screwed, like there was this guy in Norway in a very remote town that had it part of his store, when I lived there for half a year (many years ago) and he had to have things repaired first before he could accept any new transfers. So finding someone reliable can be deal maker or breaker too.

Fortunately some countries take WU as part of the bank or post offices even and then its a little easier to deal with, via subcontract company usually. Either that or WU main offices are good too, but they are few in between.

But yea then you can get to the point where someone like me can know about WU and their procedures more than "professional agents" who have been schooled badly.

You could look into digital banks, they work like wire transfer and technically you only have to give out the bank number (it works without the sender having your name). I use Revolut but it's not available everywhere, but it's a life saver for me since I've moved my home country cus the wire transfer is p much worldwide and very cheap (ie sending 500€ to an australian bank costs me maybe 1-2 euros so much cheaper than paypal). There's a bunch of different of these banks so maybe there's one that works from whereever you're from :)
