I tried making some AI art this week, and quickly learned a few things.
The most important thing I learned is that like with miniature painting, my skill is serviceable, at best. When painting miniatures I can make something that is 'table ready'. Meaning, it looks good at a distance, but up close the flaws are pretty obvious. The AI art I produce is ok for a very limited range of subjects.
With both AI art and miniature painting there are skills and techniques that I can't seem to figure out on my own. Even with helpful pointers, and guides, I just can't get over the skill hurdle by myself. I think in both cases, I would need someone to sit down with me and teach me what I need to improve.
I'm still going to play with AI art. If nothing else, it would be a good way to do character portraits for TTRPGs. I won't be posting any of it here, though. I'm kind of a dumb tiger. Even with the IB staff being very helpful, I can't figure out how to meet IB's AI art requirements. (Honestly, I am impressed by the patience the IB staff showed dealing with my dumb questions, and trying to provide help and guidance for me.)
Also, I am still working on a story post. However, the story I had planned just wasn't coming together, and there's another story that is demanding I write it. Hopefully, by Saturday, I'll have that story ready.
