TLDR: I'm trans and need money for top surgery + my other medical issues
Hi everyone, again I'm sorry for the hiatus, and thank you for all being understanding and patient with me. I wanted to let you guys know what's been happening, so I spent a long time trying to write this out, I tired to keep it short but I think with these type of topics, that becomes impossible.
As most people know, I took 3 months off when my physical and mental health took a bad turn. I've always been someone who has struggled, so I was more surprised when I was able to actively post as much as I did for the better part of last year. But December was rough, I was dealing with my best friends death anniversary marking the first year without him, his birthday, Christmas without my family, my own birthday and my passed pets birthday. Pretty much all in the span of 2 weeks. (I know some of that stuff seems minor but it all really effects me)
I turned 24 years old this year, so my brain has officially stopped developing. Which is a big reason for why I'm only starting to medically transition now. I have hesitated to disclose this part of my identity for a long time, since online I can just pretend to be any other dude. I've already started the process, and I already know I will be a lot happier after the surgery. However, this obviously comes with a big price tag, and I'm looking to spend about $13,000 USD. Every dollar earned from my art is dedicated to this, and I am eternally grateful for any support, whether through commissions, tips, donations or simply offering words of encouragement, it means the world to me.
In addition to transitioning, I am dealing with some other medical challenges that demand financial resources. I have some issues with my knees and a family history of uterine/cervical/ovarian cancers, that I'm showing several symptoms for. I'm lucky that health care in Australia is great by American standards, so these things are partly taken care of. But there are still some issues that aren't covered at all by the public health system. Especially those to do with mental health, "invisible" disabilities like autism, and so on. The government assistance in Australia has been another hurdle, as the process of assisted payments first requires a $1600 USD diagnosis. (People who don't earn money, must pay to prove they cant earn money! Obviously!!) So I must prove I'm too disabled to work. This is something that should have done when I was a child, but I didn't have the best upbringing.
I know this is all a bummer, and I'm just spouting out some big numbers, but this money will change my life. Once I'm on the correct payments and have a flat chest, god, maybe it will cure my depression lol. It's hard but I'm still grateful for the treatment I can receive, its a reachable goal if I keep trying. I'll be updating semi-regularly about reaching my goal of $14,600 dollars :3
Lastly, I want to assure you that I am not soliciting emergency commissions out of desperation. I'm not starving, and I can still pay my rent on time. I also will be putting away money into the fund from my current payments, not just art. If things change, I will blast the "emergency comms" button everywhere.
