I have witnessed greatness.

Today was the day that the Sun, Moon and Earth converged. Given that the moon circles the earth and the earth circles the sun, eventually the three would align.

And when the alignment happened today, I was witness to a rare, spectacular phenomenon. The moment that the shadow of the moon reduced the sun to a shining halo, everything the light touched before was enveloped in twilight. The air around me cooled, street lights and sensor lights were activated, crickets began their nighttime song... even a stray cat emerged to investigate.

For four brief, yet glorious minutes, I experienced the capabilities of nature, and it moved me to awe... but when light returned afterward, everything went back to normal.

And that is my description of the eclipse.

I saw it, I think, at the end of last year, when it was visible in South America. Unfortunately, the trees blocked the peak of it.
