May 5th is formally known as the Battle of Puebla Day when the Mexican army was victorious over France at the battle in a municipality named Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War on May 5, 1862.
In another article, I read where during that battle the French forces outnumbered the Mexican forces, and the French had better equipment. Despite that fact, the Mexicans still won the Battle of Puebla.
