https://www.gocomics.com/pricklycity/2024/05/05

Americans think that Cinco De Mayo is a Mexican national holiday, which it is not.  Mexican Independence Day is in September.

I copied this off a website;

May 5th is formally known as the Battle of Puebla Day when the Mexican army was victorious over France at the battle in a municipality named Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War on May 5, 1862.

In another article, I read where during that battle the French forces outnumbered the Mexican forces, and the French had better equipment.
Despite that fact, the Mexicans still won the Battle of Puebla.
