For those of you who didn't already know what happened, or those who didn't know him at all - A dear friend of mine, Rusty
passed away a little over a year ago. I haven't really said anything about it 'til now. But I've wanted to get this off my chest for some time. I'll try to stay as lighthearted as possible though, because I know he wouldn't want us to stay sad.
Back in 2015, I had an accidental self-inflicted injury that I had to get surgery for. At the time, I was beating myself up for it and was having one of the worst levels of depression in my life. I was offline for months, and pretty much stayed in bed a lot. When I did get back online later that year, that was when I first met him on IB. Anyway, he and one other fur buddy I met that year really helped cheer me up and just...get me feeling back to being 'normal' again. ^^ And for that, I can never thank him enough.
But enough about me. If you ever had the chance to chat with him for even a little bit, Rusty was one of the most sweet, thoughtful, kindhearted and genuine person you'll ever meet. I...regret not getting a chance to know you even more, but I know that we'll meet again someday ^^ In the end, I'm happy for you, and rest in peace, my lil otter friend. We'll never forget you, buddy! <333
I not only had the chance to chat with darkrusty, but we actually met up in Germany 3 years ago. He traveled to see me, as I was kinda broke at the time. Not even having a smartphone, and with my network out of service, I packed up my 15-inch laptop and made a small trip down to a McDonalds on a rainy day to use their wireless network service for 30 minutes just to chat with him the day before we had decided to meet up. We made sure to exchange telephone numbers and make proper arrangements. The day he was here, I showed him around and we ate somewhere where my brother and I used to go to. We even went to the movies to go see Rings, which had its own Rusty: Johnny Galecki, who, as a child actor, played Russell “Rusty” Griswold in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
It’s been a while since we had properly spoken, but I did chat with Rusty one last time over a picarto stream, which is how I met him. I had no idea he passed on; it’s been out for a year, but a friend pointed out your upload to me on Monday. While I did meet up with him, I regret never having followed up on going to see him myself. He was the first person in the fandom I ever met offline. To commemorate Rusty, I’ll keep his picture on that smartphone I was finally able to get! Rest in Peace, buddy!

Oh wow. Thank you for sharing that story :) And glad you got to meet him in person too! We did share some irl pics with each other, but meeting irl (living in different countries) was going to be unlikely, sadly. But I told him when we first met that I was born in Germany. So we at least had that connection ^^ Tho I was only there when I was an infant/toddler before moving back to the U.S. So I don't really speak a lick of German xP *blushes*

I only just started to talk with him, had a few short words or conversations before that happened. And yes, he was so incredibly sweet and fun. It's really sad but I think he has a smile on his face when he looks down and sees this :´)
