Character Sheet for Rowan
Character Description
A cute, yet deadly ninja with no idea what she's doing in social settings, Rowan is equally one of the safest creatures to be around, as well as the most dangerous. While she has the skill to fight nearly any opponent, she saves her skills for only one...
Personality
Rowan is childlike, carefree, and curious. Having grown up partly in the wild and partly secluded from society (see background,) she struggles to grasp social norms like bathing suits, or designated bathrooms, etc. She often does whatever she likes and speaks her mind without a filter. Due to her curiosity and innocence, she comes off as always chipper and cheerful, excited to try anything once.
If there is any mention of Hanako though, Rowan becomes deadly serious, almost robotic. She slips into a trance where her senses are heightened, and she has only one thing on her mind: Revenge.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes: Food, candy, exciting things, new things, training.
Dislikes: Hanako.
Background/History
Rowan was only 4 years old when her entire village was set ablaze, the inhabitants of each and every home and business were barricaded inside, unable to escape the deadly flames and suffocating smoke. Her parents, knowing their fate was sealed saw only one option, to try their best using their own bodies to shield their daughter from the fires and embers. As their house came crashing down on top of them, and the blaze raged into the night, one figure stood overlooking her handiwork: A fox with two tails laughed maniacally, tears streaming down her crazed face.
As the morning sun rose, the embers were dying down. The scent of burnt flesh, fur and death hung grimly in the air. Suddenly there was movement in the burnt remnants of what used to be a home. Ashes and charred corpses of what used to be two loving parents were pushed aside, and like the first sapling of spring, the small 4 year-old cub, covered in ashes made up of everything she loved and a horrifically burnt back, stood up. Rowan looked around at what used to be her home, what used to be her village, and saw only death and destruction.
As if in a trance, the small girl shambled off into the woods, like a wounded animal seeking a quiet place to die in peace. However that peace never came. The hours turned into days, as Rowan waited for starvation to take her. A concept she didn't even fully grasp at her age. As she lay there, cool rain poured from the sky, sending shooting pain along her scarred back, but also helping it heal, and providing her with water to drink. Nearby animals for some reason would bring the small wounded girl various fruits and nuts, and while Rowan welcomed death, she eventually ate the food.
After some time, Rowan had regained her strength. She sat up and looked around the woods meant to be her final resting place, and saw something else: A new home.
There she lived for 6 years, learning how to survive on her own in the wild, with her new family: the flora and fauna of the forest. Eventually she encountered an old fox training in the woods, and as she watched him curiously, he motioned for her to join him. She always ran away, day after day, not trusting the old fox.
However, one day she sat closer, and watched with interest.Over the course of months and then years, Rowan began to mimic the fox's moves, and then she was soon deliberately taught by the fox. She no longer feared him, but saw him as a teacher. The fox eventually even brought her clothes to wear, though she opted not to most of the time. Not much was said between the two, but they shared the occasional dialogue. One day the fox told Rowan who he was, and why he was training. His name was Hansuke, and he had a brother named Kisuke who was murdered one day. He discovered who killed his brother, but he needed to train his body up again after years of neglect and age if he wanted vengence.
Rowan would eventually learn that Kisuke's killer was the same monster who destroyed her village and killed her parents. Doubling her efforts into training, she swore to help him seek vengence. Some days, Kisuke would leave Rowan a note to continue her training, as he had other matters to attend to. He'd always be back the next day to train with her, so one day when he left her another letter saying they'd continue training the following day, Rowan shrugged it off and continued training.
Days passed, and eventually months... Hansuke never returned... It was then that Rowan decided to leave their training ground, and leave the forest she once called home. Believing that Hansuke set out for revenge on his own, Rowan set off in search of her master as well as her target: The legendary killer, Hannibal Hanako.
