Mammoth Mogul is the smartest, oldest, most cunning, ruthless and wise villain in the seemingly endless horde of hero-killers that Sonic has faced in the Archie comic history. For literally millennia, he used the Chaos Emerald to outwit his opponents, he controlled Mobians using their deepest desires as weakness, he kidnapped Tails and siphoned his power for months without Sonic even noticing, killed his masters in the ultimate play for revenge, and even coerced Sonic into becoming the final member of his Fearsome Foursome(not like THAT, heathens)! Who knows where his story would've gone if it weren't for the Great Pender-pression?

Mammoth's last major act before the lawsuits was what I consider to be his most brilliant, even if it is surprisingly risque for a children's comic. Using the powers and influence he gained over the eons, Mammoth Mogul, imprisoned and without a Chaos Emerald to maintain his youth and power, controlled the minds of three of Sonic's friends—Mina Mongoose, Mighty the Armadillo and Tails himself; all simultaneously. He forced all three of them into threatening suicidal outcomes—Mina was sent to run out on water(she's about as fast as Sonic, thanks to him) into the ocean until she'd get tired and drown, Mighty was sent to a heavily fortified Robotnik base with no control to fight(which would have him killed on-site) and Tails was sent to fly straight up where he'd eventually pass out or suffocate from lack of oxygen and have a nice long fatal fall to sleep through. With the lives of his best friends(and technically unrequited love interest!) on the line, Sonic was forced to steal the Emerald from the Acorn vault and break Mammoth Mogul free.
With that, Mogul did something even smarter afterwards—something that no other villain has ever done, past present or future—he conceded defeat. Mogul flat out admitted to Sonic that he would never be able to beat him, and decided to quite literally "outlive Sonic" and wait until our Blue Blur was dead before taking over the world. How's that for hardcore!
Mammoth Mogul has always had my respect, and this is one of the reasons why. Thank you once again so much to DN for letting this dream finally become a reality!
