Flashride was once human, but after saving someone and getting himself killed, he woke up light years from Earth on Cybertron as a Transformer and joined the Autobots.

Background/History
Flash Carson Ride was an accomplished young man of 18 years of age. One day he noticed a woman dressed in fancy clothing. But then he noticed A sniper on a nearby rooftop with his rifle trained on the woman. Thinking quickly, he pushed the woman out of the way and to the bullet to the head instead. Turns out, the woman was a rich millionaire and a rival wanted her out of the picture and hired a sniper to assassinate her, but Flash foiled his plan. His family was Deeply saddened and Grieved to hear about this but were very proud of Flash for saving someone's life. The rich woman was generous enough To vastly compensate the Ride family, as well as Flash's girlfriend, Carly, for their loss. Later, Flash found himself in a medical ward. The doctor asked if he was alright, to which Flash replied affirmatively. He was shocked to see that the doctor was a robot. " YOU'RE A ROBOT?!" Flash shouted. The doctor replied that of course he was because Flash was, too. Flash corrected him that he was human. The doctor asked Flash if he had looked in a mirror lately, to which the doctor directed flash to. Flash did indeed see that he was a robot and was shocked. The doctor extended a hand and introduced himself as Ratchet, Flash said "I'm Flash Ride." Ratchet interpreted his name as one word: Flashride. But before Flash could correct him, Ratchet asked how he showed up fallen on the battlefield, to which Flash explained who he was and how he died. Ratchet concluded that since Flash was once human, he had to be from Earth. Cybertronians knew little about the planet but knew of the existence of humans. Ratchet explained the relevant basics of the history of Planet Cybertron, the the war, how it started, how Megatron rose to power, how Optimus became a Prime, etc;. After this, Flash decided to keep the misinterpretation of his name as his new name and went by Flashride from there on out, a new name for the new him. He was introduced to Optimus and was inducted into the Autobots and eventually underwent training. To everyone's surprise including his own, Flashride out-performed all of the other recruits, quickly reaching the top of his class. He had power unlike any other, maybe even Optimus. He had done so well that at his graduation, Ultra Magnus inducted him into the Elite Guard. He now accepts his new life and does his best to help bring down the Decepticon threat.
