Character Sheet for Lucas Alan Lawland
Nickname(s)
Luke
Sex/Gender
Male
Species
German Shephard
Age
10
Character Description
Lucas is a G-Shep boy of average height and build.
Personality
Lucas values integrity and morality. He always takes on the role of the Paladin, Knight, or equivalent archetype of whatever game is being played. If not, then he is a detective or sleuth. Energetic and always one to play rough-and-tumble. Often times very innocent and naive; or, at least, he'll feign it. He isn't perfect, after all.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes games and adventure, especially physically acting out the games or LARPing. Enjoys reading, mostly mystery or detective stories. Likes to watch crime dramas or cop shows. Admires characters like Batman, Chase (Paw Patrol), Inspector Gadget, and Scruff McGruff.

Dislikes lying, cheating, being unfair, etc.; especially dislikes being accused of doing such things. Doesn't deal with overly-mushy or emotional stuff very well. Doesn't think highly of his father.
Background/History
Lucas primarily lives with his grandparents while his mother travels due to her job. When he was four, his father was convicted of domestic battery and other drug-related charges, and won't be out until Lucas is in his mid-to-late teens (at the earliest). Despite the tumultuous first years of his life, since living with his grandparents he has found stability. He takes care of them almost as much as they take care of him, so he has a strong sense of responsibility and caring.

One mystery that tugs at his mind fairly often, are faint memories of when he was no more than 2 or 3 years old. A girl that looked a lot like him. He remembered seeing her often, or at least it felt like it, and then all of a sudden nothing. In fact, it was only after he turned 10 that these flits of images of her came back into his mind. His grandparents didn't know what he was asking about, and his mother could only figure he was remembering an imaginary friend or that he had a warped mirror in his bedroom or something.

But none of these explanations felt right. The mystery motivated him to get good at being a detective, so that one day he might be able to find this girl. In some ways, he even started to build a bit of a crush on her.

World/Setting
Non-specific Earth-like universe
Body
Typical G-Shep colorations. Mostly light-tan or light-brown on his body, with dark brown on his muzzle, around his eyes, and on his back.

He has an average build, if a bit on the skinny side. Tougher than he looks, though.
Clothing
Typical boys' clothing, much of it themed after his favorite heroes and cartoon characters. Also a Cub Scout uniform and related shirts.
Accessories
Tends to keep a magnifying glass, notepad, and pencil on him, usually in his backpack or sports pack.
My first adoption of a character. I'm not really in the market for adopting characters, but with everything there are some exceptions. In this case the exception was a circumstance that gave him meaning to me.

When I first saw him in a thumbnail, I almost mistook him for Trinity. But then I saw the ears and it was clear he wasn't. But then my next thought wa show similar the design was - almost like a copy. But then it clicked that the design was by the same artist that had designed Trinity. So, not really a copy, more that the artist had drawn another gshep OC, so of course there would be similarities.

Then I saw that he was up for adoption. The pieces fell into place for me. Here was a character that I mistook for Trinity at first, almost like they were related. A character I had no knowledge of - that she had no knowledge of - like a brother, separated from in early life.

So why not. Two siblings (or half-siblings rather), separated in early childhood. One barely remembers the other; the other, memories lost or locked away entirely. Walking along two very different paths from one another.

Will they ever meet in canon? Well. I dunno, I haven't gotten that far. But it's nice to have that in my back pocket.
