I recently found that I've been struggling with legs, and had a desire to quicken up my process a little bit as well as integrate more stereotypically "kemono" legs into my work. This is my solution to that. Originally I wasn't going to post this, but figured someone would find it useful ^^

From this, I've determined that the hind legs of quadrupedal mammals may be broken up into 4 parts:

1 - large oval (digitigrade) or circle (plantigrade) that represents the femur and/or a portion of the tibia and fibula in plantigrade legs

2 - square (digitigrade) or oval (plantigrade) that represents the tibia and fibula

3 - oval, represents the tarsals/metatarsals

4 - peets, represents the phalanges. Almost a very round little pyramid shape.

many Japanese artists seem to stylize these legs by reducing #2 unless the knee (found within #1) is bent, revealing the muscle present.

This stuff is what I live for as an artist, and in-depth but simplified breakdown that makes sense.
